Self-adhering breast forms advice?
Hi Sisters,
I am thinking of taking the plunge and getting self-adhering breast forms, and I wondered what advice you may have.
I'm aware that this subject has been discussed in previous threads, but I tried searching, and couldn't come up with the answers I need. I have looked at the Breast Form Store and other major outlets, but I want to know more before I buy. So, here goes:
1. My guess is that "self-adhering" forms are preferable to the taped "adhesive" forms — is this right?
2. I gather that many prefer the "pearl bead" self-adhering forms?
3. What are the best candidates for light weight, reliable attachment and re-usability for as long as possible?
4. Also economy! I gather the $587 Amoena self-adhering forms are state of the art, but I can't afford anything close to that. Anyone know of budget forms that are really good? Or are all the cheap ones poorly made?
Though I have used various sizes of (bra-supported) silicone forms for years, I'm new to attachable breasts, so I'm a novice concerning methods of attachment. Therefore please don't hesitate to tell me even the most rudimentary things about attaching breasts.
So, what brand, model, price, vendor, etc. have you liked? Anything to avoid? Any advice, experience or warnings you may have will help me in my decision. Thanks in advance,
Love, Robyn Katie

Hi -- I can't speak to much to the type of forms you are describing as I have never worn them. I can tell you that some of them descried as self adhering just mean they wont move when in a bra -- but are not really able to be worn without a bra without some other form of support.
Some use a strap with velcro or other means to attach.
I have used the taped versios -- with moderate satisfaction.
When I want to go braless now, I use medical adhesive spray (manufactured by Hollister) --they also have an adhesive remover. This works great! No problems whatsoever -- have worn them 2-3 days straight with no issues. A little spray goes a long ways.
Thats my two cents worth.
Good luck!

Hi Melyssa Anne,
It would be great to use that adhesive with my present breast forms, but I wouldn't want to if that might risk damaging them.
Does the Hollister adhesive leave breast forms undamaged? Will it work with any kind of forms, or only certain kinds?
Also, can you buy the adhesive in local stores, or in pharmacies like CVS or Walgreen? Or can it only be gotten on the net?
Thanks!

The adhesive can take time to clean off, and you do not want to put the forms away without cleaning them. It can take forever to get it all of if you do!!
I proved allergic to the Hollister's adhesive. Made my skin burn and turn violet where it touched and took several weeks to retun to normal. I recommend you try a small area and not try to stick anything to it first, and if there is no reaction go ahead. Goes for any adhesive. Essentially Hollisters is a kind of latex glue, and has propellents (in the spray can) that could also activate allergies. If you get the brush on type, that would likely avoid the propellant problem. I hope you are not allergic.
Good luck and enjoy.

PS: Oh, I meant to say one of my friends got the Aomena forms that have the little suction thingies, and could wear them braless if there was no active pursuits going on. Let her wear all sorts of things1
They were kinda large, and she grew her own smaller, and stopped wearing the forms. They did get kinda uncomfortable (the self adhesive qualities) and would loosen with sweat.
Thats all she ever said about them.

I just ordered a pair on ebay. I wont get the until next week but I'll be happy to let you know how they work out when I do. I've been watching the, the average bid on the self-adhering is about $70 to $100. The average bid on ones that need glue are $50 to $80. I just ordered a pair of the non adhering for $39. with shipping plus the "It Stays" Body Adhesive for $12. for $51. If I don't like them I can always order different ones later. And the store had good reviews.
When they come in I'll let you know how I like them as soon as I've tried the on.

The Breast Form Store sells the tape and the associated "skin tac wipes," separately but they recommend that you use the two together and from personal experience I recommend it as well. Important to note that whatever forms you use make sure they can be used with tape or you can ruin them or they will not adhere to you. The MAJOR problem with the BFS tape and wipes is I have not been able to get the tape off the forms you they build up layers. I will say the wipes and tape work quite will as I have worn them for up to two days including taking a shower and they stayed in place.

Donna introducted this to us several years ago and I still use it every now and then. It is called "DURO All-Purpose Spray Adhesive." It can be purchased at WalMart; K-Mart or probably any hardware store for about $4.98 a can. The can I have is blue. It does say not to use on your skin but I think that that is a CYA statement, as I have never had a problem with it in terms of rashes , but be advised, it does stick and again it seems to only work with those forms that are designed to be held in place by tape or whatever. The spray on comes off as easily as the tape, almost!
IMPORTANT - DO NOT IGNORE THIS!!!!!!
PAY CAREFUL ATTENTION WHEN APPLYING EITHER THE TAPE OF USING THE GLUE THAT YOUR SKIN DOES NOT - I REPAEAT ------- DOES NOT HAVE ANY FOLDS IN IT. KEEP THE SKIN STREACHED SMOOTH, NOT SO MUCH STREACHED, BUT SMOOTH!!!!!! AND!!! AND!!!! NEEDLESS TO SAY, DO NOT, DO NOT USE THE SPRAY AND/OR TAPE ON OR NEAR YOUR NIPPLES!
I found out the hard way that even the slighest crease can not only cause grevious pain when removing the forms, but it can cause bleeding in the crease (mine did not bleed) but the crease sure hurt for for several days!!!! So don't just "slap them on." Take your time and of course level and even makes you look better too
Good luck and tell us what works for you!

I go along with Virginia.......I too have forms from BFS. They even sent along some tapes for FREE. I have used the tape many times and found that it holds very well. Right after I got my forms and tape, I did a little experiment. I attached the tape to the forms, then attached them to my breasts like Virginia wrote about. Then I kinda swung my body back and forth, then I bent over at the waist then got down on all fours, so that gravity had the most effect on them. I all phases they stayed attached.
I have gone bra-less with them taped on and worn a bra with them taped on. In both cases they gave me the feel and look that I was going for.
As far as removing them. I have had no problem removing the forms and once I went almost 48 hours straight with them taped on. Sleeping that night was a lot of fun too. LOL Removing the tape after use was not that hard and then clean them according to the BFS instructions before putting them back into their boxes.

On top of everything going on in my life, my breast forms came in tonight.
I ordered a C and can I just say.... Wow! I think the foam forms I've been using and thought were B's must have been an A because, well... WOW.
I didn't expect them to be so large. They are C's. They fit the C bra I bought perfect. They feel soooooo good. The Weight of them alone was like heaven. The are not self-adhering so I haven't used the skin glue to hold them on yet. But They feel so wonderful.
I know I am going to have to get use to them but when I put them on I thought, "oh my, I went to large. I think I am going to love them once I am used to them and if worse comes to worse, I'll order a B sometime in the future if I want smaller at times. I can't wait for some alone time to have them on and use them with a full dress.
