High Heels: An Early Warning Radar System

Hi all,

I was walking down the hallways of a local university a while ago when I heard the approaching sound of high heels clicking on the tiled floor. I noticed that many men turned their heads in that direction. This got me thinking. Could it be that the sound of high heels a-clickin' is a form of early warning radar, alerting the male gaze to the approach of a member of the opposite sex? Could it be that men are attuned to the sound of high heels the same way that many animals are to the hiss of a serpent (but, obviously, for entirely different reasons)?

Men--partnered or not--love to stare at women. Hearing the approach of high heels can help us focus our attention earlier on the object of our gaze, thereby lengthening the amount of time it's possible to slake our thirst for the female image. There's an evolutionary biology study in the works here, folks.

Begs the question, who invented high heels and if it were a man, do women not have the right to say, "screw you, Jack, I ain't wearin those things, they are not only uncomfortable but dangerous!" Then deep in the inner core of the female brain, ".... but they do make my butt and legs look delicious!"

I have heels with the hard heel and they seem to be able to make that sexy noise even on carpet ! I also have some with a soft heel, not quite as good for driving nails or self-defense, but are good for, shall I say, "stealth attraction?"

I would have to agree that the "clicking" is a head turner and I think at an early age males are attuned to that sound and a multitude of reasons come to mind as to why we would wear such medieval torture items. We all know why, don't we? It makes our legs look good as well as our butt.

Heels on, shoulders back, boobs out, smile and "carry on straight people!"

But I've noticed that a great many shoes made for women whether heels or flats make a lot more sound on tile floors than do any men's shoes.

I as a male will look every time as to me when I walk in heels the sound is so sexy I do love it. Now on the other hand I have flats with hard sole and they click as I walk along, oh but the sound of heels clicking is a real turn on

I love the sound of high heels. More so when I'm making those sounds. My boots with 3 in heels are fun to wear when I get the chance.
I have a pair of faux snake skin half boots with a hard 1 1/2 in heel that click wonderfully and are a head turner both men and women. They are sold as men's shoes(non western). I wear them in drab mode with knee highs and have worn them in fem mode a few times with jeans.

Virginia....a man invented high heels. In fact high heels at one time were worn ONLY by men. History shows that the King wanted to make sure he was taller than everyone else and ordered the royal Cobbler to make him shoes that made him taller. So he made the King a pair of shoes with 3 inch heels. The King loved them. This started a fashion and men started wearing high heel shoes too. Now they could not wear as high as the King.
This fashion lasted a long time. If you look at George Washington portrait will notice that he is wearing high heel shoes.

I too like the sound of high heels clicking and will look in that direction with a feminine image in mind but I would rather be wearing them and gleaning the attention - exhilarating while being fun!

It was an incredible feeling to be producing that familar clicking sound for the first time at age 50! In my teenage CDing years, shoes were just not an item that was available, and I never even thought about buying any. The sound of heels going everywhere I went took a while to get used to.

After 30-some years, I've moved to a new part of the Bay area, and there are more heel-wearers in this part of suburbia. The shoppers on Burlingame Avenue are a stylish group--lots of high-end clothing stores there.

Yes, I've noticed this too, and I'm still not sure exactly why. None of my gal shoes lace up, which may have something to do with it. Material on the soles? My girl flats have harder soles than my guy shoes do.
