Growing your hair feminine
I don't use a wig and have no plans to do so. However I do try and grow my (silver) so it resembles a short fem hair do. do other have the same idea?

I haven't cut my hair in about 5 years and keep it in a ponytail, but it looks like guy hair in a ponytail, and keeping it loose doesn't help. This seems to have something to do with where the hairline is. It also won't grow past a certain length.

My own natural hair is quite long, and I keep it pulled back in a guy ponytail, braided, on a daily basis. I do this for a couple reasons, 1) it is easier to maintain and keep a professional look, since I have been out of work since September and am looking for work it helps. 2) My hair is co curly that if I let it go free I have an afro that would make Huggy Bear (yes, I'm aging myself there), jealous.
With my hair this length (mid back), I can pretty much style it to look quite feminine when I get a chance to get dressed up and go out. Which has not been in quite some time since I recently grew a wallach (mustache that comes down on either side of the mouth and goes down the chin), sort of like the guy form OCC (Orange County Choppers).

My hair isn't really curly, more like just ondulated, hence it's totally not manageable.
I tried letting it grow as much as I can bear with it in the hope that, once it grows past a certain length, it will fall under its own weight, but all I got was an afro look that I'm not very fond of
I think I'm gonna snip an idea from Kandis and let it grow for a while, then try to tie it into some sort of ponytail.

do you guys ever find wigs painful. I didn't wear them for CD reasons i just used to like to have different hair at a whim. wouldn't mind a shorter wig to look more masculine on occasion in future but want in natural and secure looking. But in past I found wigs either itch or if i wear a cap for securness its really painful and presses on the bones in my skull gives me headaches and get overheated. I have quite a bony head LOL.
any advice?

At the moment I'm trying to grow my hair out but when it reaches a certain length (about shoulder length) it goes curly on the ends and nothing will straighten it. I've tried styling it but the damn stuff just mocks my attempts.
So I guess I'll give up and have it cut then go back to the cap and wig.

Hair is such a problem!!! Due to male pattern baldness, I have to wear a wig...which is ok since I can change my appearance a lot..and easily. Here in Floriduh it can be a tad hot, when I went to Disneyworld a few years ago, I had to find a secluded spot to take off my pageboy hair for a few minutes.....but heck, that was in June. Since then, with better hair (wigs), I haven't had that problem .But after spending a whole day be-haired, I do take it off when I get back to my room/house. I do envy anyone who has a full head of hair (and I did at one time) and remember, if you start hormone therapy early enough, your hair should be fine!
