Out of the closet
Only my wife knows, my female neighbour may have caught me. Not out of the closet yet.

Interesting thread. Not including potential and actual therapists and other CD's I've told about a dozen other people about my CD-ing, mostly in my younger days. But, living in the highly mobile society that is late 20th, early 21st century America, most of them aren't around any more. A few of them are dead. Others have moved away. A few of them I am still in contact with, sporadically, and a a couple of them we (Nancy and I) still occasionally see socially. One of those, a woman, was at our house for dinner two weeks ago. It never came up.
When we became parents, Nancy had great concerns about my cross dressing with a child in the house, so it went into hibernation for a number of years. I was already in therapy at the the time, so that helped get me through it.
Four years ago, we became empty nesters. I started dressing again on a regular basis. Nancy was okay with it as long as it stayed in the house. As it became a more regular thing, She began talking the situation over on the phone with with one of the women friends that had known about my dressing from way back when. She is an open minded and supportive friend. She is the only one of all those people who have mentioned my cross dressing in some years.
I don't draw the shades at night when the weather is warm, so I have no idea, really, whether the neighbors have caught on or not. None of them has ever said anything to me. What would they say? The point of all this is, that, after all these years, and all the people I have told I am at this point living again in a sort of relaxed closet. Maybe there is no closing the door again, but people have concerns of their own, and tend to forget that it's open.

I am a vessel of the Goddess. Let me express my calling to a feminine life through nurturing love and relatedness.

I sometimes wonder what the neighbors know. My at-home clothes are usually pretty simple, although I do have print blouses that I wear while typing on my computer (in the living room). I doubt anybody would notice them. But after 11PM I'm often wearing a long nightgown, without a bath robe until it gets cold enough to need one. And I'll get up at 5AM to go out on the porch to get the paper in just my nightie.

I step out of the front door to get the newspaper sometimes. I will slip on some shoes (usually a pair of heels) so I don't ruin my stockings.
I have neighbors on both sides and across the street. I peek out first to make sure no one is about but who knows if someone is looking out of a window.

I was like that up to a couple of years ago but now I am fully out in the world. The only exception - for my wife's feeling not my own - I do not go out close to home.
I have never had a negative reaction when Susan has been out so rest assured, all the barriers are in our own heads.
Good luck
