Hello.I am thinking about getting a makeover at Macys or somewhere like that.I was wondering, what is a good amount to tip the girl who does this?Have you had a makeover? What was it like?
Thanks!

Tip? I never tipped one. I thought that was part of their job description. The idea of the make over at the department stores is to get you to buy product; it's not really to just give make overs. They are going to show you how their line at that counter is good for you and show you how good you look. This is supposed to help you decide who's make up to buy when you need it. Naturally, you get some lessons with it, particularly if you ask questions.

I don't usually ask for a make over, but the girls will ask if they can show me things and offer some level of a make over on their own. If you're at the store at off hours like after the lunch rush and before te evening after work comes in, the girls can be idle and giving any demos is a nice way for them to kill time. I can usually have a one on one conversation, which can turn into a touch up or other make up session if I want it.

Thank you for the response.I thought that was something you would tip for.I don't want to offer a tip if that's the wrong thing to do.

The girls aren't expecting tips, especially if a manager is around. They do expect you to buy products. In that respect, visit counters where you can afford to buy from.

Yes, buy something rather than tipping.
