I ripped my breastform with my nails, is there a fix or do they have to be replaced. The rip is about an inch and a half long starting at the nipple.
Hate to discard them

That is a big bummer. I recently ripped one of mine. Figured it was on the back of it and flat so tried using just clear packing tape on it. So far it is holding up. I also have a cover that I put on it.

Let us know what you do.

a clear medical adhesive tape works short term but take it as a warning that they do not last for ever.

I was waiting for the thread to move. I used simply scotch tape, but not a cheapy brand. It held up for quite awhile including through hand washings. My tears were small though, but one was on an edge and the tape held even going around the edge.

The "sour grapes" of this whole tear business is that at least we didn't have these breasts as implants. Could you imagine the damage we could do to ourselves?

J have used "Tegaderm" a product described in the link from Donna (see above). There are some similar products available from surgical supply stores. Better than Scotch Tape.

I've been very careful with my forms, but I assumed if I ripped one I'd have to throw it away. We keep Tegaderm patches at home. I think I will keep one in my makeup kit, just in case the need arises.

I used band aids and when it got more severe I put them in knee hi's.

I have never ripped a form, thank goodness, though I see how easily it could happen!

For me the more common form breakdown is internal. I don't know the exact internal arrangement of a form, but it seems as if the fluid part is contained in several chambers. I have twice had those inner chambers break.

What happens is not catastrophic. No leak develops. However, the shape of the form is lost. It becomes squooshily deformed, kind of like a bag, definitely not like a boob. Wearable in a pinch, but it does not flatter your figure! So I tossed it.

Trouble is when one is damaged, it usually means the other may be on its last legs. Vendors do of course sell the forms individually, but I don't know if it makes sense to pair a new one with an old one whose life may be getting short. Whether you just start over with a new pair depends, I guess, on whether you've got the extra moolah. Which can be an issue!

Thanks to all that responed to my cry, the tear has gone the distance and I've ordered new ones. I'm getting the same size , so I will have a spare next time around, hahaha. I tried super glue and plastic wrap, the glue stuck to the form, but not the wrap. o well, I tried. Surprising the goo inside is not running out as I thought it would, seem to be sponge like membranes inside. I've wrapped the plastic wrap aroound the form and can still wear them even at night. as long as they are covered they still have good form, I know I can't keep them going for long. Who said living as a woman would be cheap anyway. Thanks again

It is not normally recommended to sleep in (silicone) forms as that can, as you have found out, damage them because the covering is deliberately kept thin to feel as realistic as possible. There are alternatives, the old bird seed in as stocking foot is a cheap and cheerful alternative.

I know it is not recommended to sleep in silicone forms but do and have not had any problems because I have. But I am a back sleeper so I am sure that helps not having extra pressure on them.
