Blogs

As many of you will know I am a blogger, as are many others, and I was just wondering why so many transgendered people feel the need to write about our lives, and make our thoughts and adventures public. Commenting on another blog ( http://unordinarystyle.blogspot.co.uk/2 ... -wife.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ) I observed that many cross dressers are selfish and and self absorbed, is this why our favorite subject is ourselves, or is it the lack of opportunity to talk with other people about this important aspect of our lives. Whatever the cause I have found that writing Paula's Place has become an important part of my day, and if my readership falls I feel disappointed, and equally I am elated when visitor figures go up, maybe I just want to feel loved?

Hi Paula.

I do occasionally read blogs, but from memory, I have never commented on one (unless this is a blog of sorts, in which case, yes I have!!!)

I like to write, read and comment on them too :)

It is addictive I agree, self centered? I'm not so sure. For me I had quite a number of people contact me about mine saying it was useful for them? It took a while to accept this though, why would anyone find me useful? Etc.

For myself, I find that putting trans related stuff in writing clarifies the mind, then when people give an opinion or advice, it's useful if you are questioning things. Most of my blogging is related to trans issues, and although my family know about me, it's still nice to share my life as I see it, and get help from others like me?

So really I guess it's a two sided deal for me, give help and get help. I only comment on blogs if I have something relevant to say, be it good or bad, but don't goof around like I would in normal threads...

Btw Anna? You commented in my Bow Emporium No1 many times ;)

And talking of blogs...is there any way on this site of seeing who has them, other than going thru everyone's profiles? Most people don't really look at the profiles so wouldn't know a blog was there?

I had a look at your emporium Mk II, looks good. I don't think there is a way of finding people's sites other than on the profile, personally I am an unashamed self publicist so I will link to things I have already written if I think they are relevant.

Probably a bit of a catharsis. Good for one's mental health.

And some seem to write to help others.

So, I wouldn't label the generic CD blogger as being selfish, that would have to be based on what they write and why.

I read all day, so am not too prone to read blogs.

Hmmm . . . I'm the first one to actually vote in the Poll? #-o

Davita and CharLee - I've added a "None of the above." option, so poll away!

:-k I have no problem creating a Sticky (or possibly an Announcement), in either the Member Announcement or Crossdresser Talk sections, that would list any member who has a blog and/or personal website. Links to those blogs/websites would be optional, but those links must be made available in the member's Profile. As a reminder, Profiles (and the Members list) can only be accessed by logged-in members, and guests, searchbots and spambots are unable to read them.

If anyone has a blog and/or personal (ie, non-business) website and would like to be listed in the Sticky or Announcement, they must personally contact me via PM . . . I will not take 'requests' from anyone other than that named member. I will create and update the post periodically.

This is odd, I think the poll got reset? Cos I definately voted yesterday #-o ahh well, I revoted heehee

I think that's a great idea SL =D> ... A thread/list in crossdresser talk would be a way of getting all the blogs together :). Yes! Yes! Pretty pretty please?!? Hahaha. Id definately like to be added to the list along with the link please ..

Thankyou SL ^^_||

I'm a blogger as well (plug: check out http://www.misadventuresingender.com).

For me, it's a matter of... I love writing. And I feel like writing as honestly as I can about my transvestisism and my journey is the best thing I have to offer with my words. *shrug* Eventually, I'd like to work towards gaining an audience that isn't necessarily of the TV / CD community..

As for why so many trans-people seem to like blogging? Well, I suppose it's a way to expressing ourselves in a world that doesn't always listen.

I've just now reread SL's post and actually sent her a PM as requested...

I hope I'm not the only one who does this? Hahahaha. A list of one person might get a bit lonely? And I'm Just wondering how many bloggers we have here?

*feeling exposed here! ..rofl..
