Out of the thousands of registered users on this forum, there are no "Lola"s. Somehow I thought there had to be at least one.

Maybe it is just too obvious a name for such a creative breed of gals, or maybe I have too much free time on my hands...

How come you're not Lola? I'm not because it doesn't suit who I am.

If you ever check out the baby naming sites, many give you lists of the most popular names and some give the least popular. I suspect all our names will run in a similar bell curve of popularity. And if not with the babies, we will have a national bell curve with in our community of communities. How many "Jessica"s are there and "Elizabeth"?

Well, I remember in the 60s, when that song was around (The Kinks' Lola) and I was going through my adolescent dressing up thing. It did reach me in my centre. This was because of the CDing theme. But I didn't identify with Lola, rather I identified with the singer who is seduced by this woman who turned out to be a man.

"Sweet Loretta Martin" from Get Back, the Beatles song, I was much more disturbed by - like I think it really did hit a wish- and I think that was because, in part of me, I wanted to be her. And there's other 60s Brit pop songs with that theme too (like from Fairport Convention, Pink Floyd...).

Lola and Loretta are both leaning toward the sort of names prostitutes would adopt - which is kind of at odds with style adopted here. There are other sites (like some photo-based ones) where you get a more aggresive style and more kind of more "nightclub"-style names.

Ha! I don't like champagne that tastes like cherry cola, C-O-L-A, cola... But you're right, just not not the name for me. "Jessica" just speaks to me more. I just thought at least one person would associate with the name.

"Lola" was the first song I realized dealt with crossdressing (since then I have realized many more). But I have to agree with your prostitute comment. It is a bit more "nightclub" style than the lady-like image I conjure up with "Jessica". But I suppose every name creates a different image in each one's mind. Like I said, just an odd thought I had...

My name is actually an acronym of my boys name and I never had any doubt thats what it should be, cause it reflects how I feel, not boy or girl %100, but rather a set of features that can be arranged as either of them. However, I've had many nicknames to register in websites I dont yet fully trust, so I guess "Lola" could be a funny option to have in mind.

I think we tend to associate names with the people we first knew who have them, for me Nigel will always be a name I associate with small ineffectual boys, even though the two Nigels I have known best were both over 6 foot 4 inches and played first team rugby in the second row. Likewise for me the name Jessica will always be associated with a certain Mrs Rabbit.

When I was trying on names I did try a few "exotic" ones I remember in particular Emerald very nice, OK for special occasions and taking out at to parties, but not for everyday use.

My first serious girlfriend (back in High School) was named Sharon.

When it came time to pick a femme name, that sort of stuck out. Also, I didn't want to pick one of the more exotic names either, since thats not who I am.

incidentally, my femme surname Rose was my great-grandmother's surname. Its also much shorter and easier to spell than my family name.

I sometimes got called 'kittie' at school too, and quite a lot in my first job where I worked for 12 years into my late 20's. It was a play on my assigned surname, and coined by others not myself...

If I had a penny for every time I heard that chanted across the playground? I would have £19.67 now...

Of course in the R & D lab where I worked, they were far more educated and mature. They'd just shout 'heaaaaar kitty kitty!!' Or 'here's kitteeeeeeeeee!' Lol.

It's the eyes (the way they slant out and upwards)...and the earings.

"Have a break, have a kit-kat" is the ad I remember...

well the eyes were the result of Karin playing makeup without steph holding her hand Heehee. I was trying thicker eyeliner than I normally use. It's a work in progress.... And the earrings are some ridiculous bows, big plastic things that look like they're out of a Lego set

This ad was one of loads they had. There was a bunch of kids...chanting just that. I'm sooo endebted to them yay. Thankyou so much for that if any of you childhood actors from that ad, now grown, happen to be trans and here reading this...
