I confess I wasn't sure that this was going to happen until now. It's a relief that Cameron hasn't been thrown off by all the shenanigans in his party.

:)

Congratulations!

Any chance the Queen will withhold royal assent?

Naaah, that would be unheard of, its seen as a formality really.. I think the Royals have a pretty good record on this kind of stuff, even harry has been pro LGBT in the armed forces..

and they still owe Elton a favour anyway ..rofl..

From Essential public affairs for journalists [2013] :
Royal Assent: Final seal of approval for Bill, turning it into an Act., is notionally still given by monarch, but the last time this happened formally was in 1854. It is conferred in Norman French, La Reine Le Veult, and has not been refused since 1707, when Queen Anne declined to grant it for a bill to settle militia in Scotland.
Although Queen Elizabeth "is the head of a 'constitutional monarchy...with the notional prerogative to govern and take major constitutional decisons, in practice she does not do so...[she] is a figurehead with very little real power." A lot of the role of the monarchy is "as national figurehead in times of crisis", when the monarch is expected to "speak for the nation".
