I went to BMV today to get my new drivers license. I have always taken great pictures. very handsom or pretty except for document ID pictures. Today I took great pains to do my makeup and hair so that the picture would come out good. The girl that took my picture was very nice but had to take a second picture because she said that I was
smiling I think she was kidding but have you ever seen a drivers license with a decent picture?
The picture that was acceptable was about as pretty as a mud fence. I am glad that I don't have it on my computer, it would probably gum up everything. LOL
But, what can you expect?
They must have a special camera.

I recently had to do mine also; they make sure I had my glasses on.
I have a CDL, (For semi trucks) so no make up.
And yes, they like to make you look like something the cat dragged in.

Hi,
Iv had mine done and ran into an issue it was ether wear my wig or show my self with out, i said i was not happy with wearing my wig and prefered my head wear as in place of my non hair or wig, i could have pulled the religous side and said as my head wear does not cover any part of my face i am allowed to wear this. so to save another issue i relentedfor my wig,
I should wear a burka,
next time ill be wearing ny head wear and the top brass will pass it, as iv found out, oh well, mug shot well yes, ....

I hear the reason they don't want you to smile for ID photos is that a smile screws up face recognition software. So, if you're going to commit a crime or act of terror, be sure to smile. Big Brother can't find you then.

The state of the art on facial recognition software is described in this Popular Science article.

It is a nice, balanced, piece. Describes using DMV images at the end.

Straight face and no glasses required for licence photos at my motor registry in New South Wales Australia.
