Strange remarks from an elderly customer

Hi all ,
Strange but its the truth
I was delivering a large appliance to the rear of a property occupied by an elderly couple , I wheeled the box on a trolley towards the back door and I got the top of the high box caught up in the outdoor mozzie zapper.
The elderly gent yelled out " lookout lassie " , " your all caught up lassie".
I didn't know what to say so I said nothing , I was quite shocked

Surely I didn't mistakenly put on the wrong cloths for work , surely I didn't develop a female speaking voice overnight
As I was leaving he said " thanks young Jane "

???????????????????????????

????

?????
As some of you know , up to several years back I had long hair and was often mistaken for a girl .
When I had all my long locks cut off I assumed that it was the end of it , until this morning
I am still confused , unless he's read me as a crossdresser , but I dont know how he would know that either

Wow!!! Merinda
Sure seems like he knows something doesn’t it.
I wonder if he might have seen you as a school girl, being as he referred to you as Young Jane?

Hi Merinda--
I had that happen twice a few years ago, and it's puzzling when it does. A guy at a fast food counter "ma am'd" me, and then I could see that he was embarrassed, because he knew he'd made a mistake. But something triggered him so that he automatically made that response.
I felt bad for him because he was trying to be nice. At the time, my hair was not that long, and that is about the only femme cue I have when I'm not wearing makeup.
Some other clerk did the same thing, not too long after. Since then, it's not happened again.
To me, there's a feeling associated with Anita's presence, and at times it may be coming through. I'm surprised that it doesn't happen more often. Before I came out, this "vibe" was getting stronger and stronger, and I thought I was going to go crazy. At that time, I had no clothes, makeup, or anything else. I knew if I bought them, it would mean going out, and I wasn't ready for that. But I got so miserable trying to suppress it that going out seemed like a relief when it finally happened.
It must have surprised both of those clerks that I smiled and didn't seem upset about the "mistake."

Hi Beauty ,
I am definatly NOT upset about this , I'm happy about it
please let it continue .
Hi Darlene ,
Nobody would recognize me in DRAB and I've never met the guy before , unless he is secretly monitoring this forums photo album and recognized my smile but I think thats unlikely.
Hi Anita ,
I think your close to the answer and thanks for sharing your similar experience.
I think that Merinda's persona has radiated outwards like an an circle of light around myself , so maybe he had mental flash's of Merinda in his mind when he looked at me.
I must admit that I have had a split second mental image of a woman in my mind when I've been looking at a man .

I've been ma'amed a couple times in drab when I don't look at all like a girl. I don't correct them, just smile.

Well here is a new one, a couple weeks ago my father and I where at a local casino and I was watching him play (there where no other games open that I wanted to play at that time) any way a woman comes by me and says excuess me miss. Now you have got to know I was not dressed at all I was just in my regualer every day boy mode clothes nothing special. As she passed she corrected her self but I still felt really great at that moment.

Merinda, It's funny you should have mention this phenomenon( spelling?), because just last thursday i was out with two marrried women that I work with , and one of them said" well what are you ladies going to have? I did not correct or even acknowledge that it was a mistake, it seemed very natural to me. and it must of to them too. Neither know that I am a crossdresser. So it goes. I like it too. Krsten

Hi Merinda
This has hapenned to me a couple of times in just the last six months. The first time was when my wife and I were shopping at the Bay.. A clerk approached us from behing and asked can I help you ladies? The second time was in a local restaurant pub where the waitress came up to the table and asked would you ladies like menus.. I think with myself it is my long blond hair. Both times I was in complete male attire..no makeup or anthing to suggest I was female and both times when they realized their mistake they were very embarassed and apologetic and I had to tell them not to worry..it's ok. I must admit I felt pretty good about both experiences.
