I got a new book the other day called THe Riddle Of Gender by Deborah Rudacille. So far it is very thought provoking and informative.

A lot so far seems to be written from a FTM perspective which is something that seems to get less publicity. I find it fascinating however. One of the things that FTMs are often surprised by is how when they transition suddenly people are afraid of them. Just because they are men. Something we all grew up with and accept without thinking.

She also has a very open minded approach to a lot of stuff such as the idea is something even a disorder or pathology in the first place. Such as does an intersexed person need to be changed or maybe it is perfectly okay to have both a penis and vagina and one need not feel they should choose a sex to belong to.

Anyway so far it's a great read

Cool. This book has also been recommended on the My Husband Betty forum under recommended reading, so I think you've found a good one!!

It's more of a transsexual book that a CD'r book, but I think reading books like this can be enlightening, especially for those who want to know more about the transgendered rainbow.

Thanks, Andrea, I will check that one out. I didn't think about people becoming afraid of FtoMs, but I know that I've met some that really put me on guard.

Part of it is that they're new to being male, and they've got the hormones, but they don't have the years of "playing by the rules," that men learn. I can tell how dangerous a man is (or how drunk), by how much he's bending the rules of--what? How men challenge each other? But an FtoM doesn't have all that experience. He's just feeling testosterone, and acting it out. Man, there was one biker that used to make me, Anita, feel sweat just being in the same room with him, whereas bikers born male are not usually a big deal to me, no matter how big they are.

Flip side of the coin---how people aren't as afraid of CDs, even though they're still just as tall and muscular when they're dressed. It was a shock when I realized that my size no longer had much value when I was dressed as a woman.
