Idle Kyra

Post by Kyra »

Hey Ladies,
Just thought I'd jump in and let everyone know I'm still alive and kicking (In my 4" pumps 8) )
There are sooooooo many new names and faces on the board!! It'll take a while for me to get to know everyone again.
For those who do remember me, I think I may have mentioned that I was moving. All I can say is whew! I'm glad that's done. (And I never want to do it again!!)
I hate moving! !!arg!!

Sorry I've been away so long. It's been slow getting the house together and a new job and so on. Things are finally starting to settle, though. Normalcy is starting to creep back in. Not a moment too soon, either.
Well, I just wanted to let y'all know what I've been up to. OH! before I forget, here are some tips I picked up over the last couple of months. If you've never moved before, they may prove useful...

Things I've learned on this move:
1)No matter how hard you try, you can never get the BBQ Grill clean.
2)Coins, pencils and thumb-tacks can be found in the oddest of places.
3)There are more holes in your walls than you realize.
4)Bleach kills damn near everything.
5)Febreeze covers up what bleach won't kill.
6)Things that went into the attic easily never come out the same(or at least not in one piece)
7)Never, never, never pack the coffee maker until the very last second, or better yet, stuff it in the luggage and take it with.

Hugs from the now displaced bayou girl,
Kyra

Hi Kyra,

Welcome backG! I'm sure obviously you're glad that it is over with. They say the 3 most stressful things in life are getting married for the 1st time, starting a new job and moving. I did all three of these within a 2 month span about 5 yrs ago! I can relate to what you say about the moving! I made it through all 3 in one piece (still have the same wife, same job and same house  ) Anyway, kick back and relax now that you are settled in!

Hi Kyra,

It is good to see that moving did not include leaving this home. Looking forward to reading you again.

Love Darlene.

I hate moving too, which is why the last move was 20 years ago come Halloween. Still have a few packed boxes.

Hi all,

Kyra! Yay! =D>

Moved and settling in... that's good. I missed your presence here, I really did. Hmmmm... could our phone conversation last night have anything to do with your popping in? :-k :P

Glad to see you (and I enjoyed gabbing with you again, last night)! I send many hugs your way and I look forward to hearing from you a bit more often.

Love,
CJ

(Oh, maybe you can share some of those hugs with Amber--I miss her, too.)

Hi Kyra--
Glad you're back, and in one piece? Fort Fun is an unusual name--don't think I ever heard it before! Now that you're settling in, I hope you can do just that --have fun. Tell Amber hello!

When I talked to you last night, I was so going to spill the beans about what I'd said on the forum, but I decided to be all sneaky and let you wander in here. I think you're right about Kyra coming back because of your talk. Sorry if my fooling around, being mischievous didn't come out right.

My goodness! What a response! *;*;* *;*;*
It's good to be missed. I should go away more often...NOT!

Thank you all so much. I'm truly blessed, in more ways than I can count.

I was in such a rush the other night, I didn't mention where we moved to.
Anita, Fort Fun is a nickname for Fort Collins, CO. We packed up and left humidified New Orleans for the drier, higher, cleaner air of northern Colorado. And we LOVE it!

The area is a lot different from down south, however. I've not done much research on the topic, but the TG Community doesn't seem as prevalent. I may have to commute to Boulder or Denver for a support group. I'm not sure yet. (one of the niceties of having an internet home like this one - It's pretty stable)

Hi, CJ! Yes our little chat the other night DID have an effect on me. As many others here will agree, you have an eloquent and wonderful way of making people feel good about themselves. Thanks, sweetie. <>
I was planning on posting soon anyway, but your little "nudge" was just what I needed to send me typing. |_|_|_|

Well, I will try to be a little more frequent since things are settling into routine around here. It's nice to be home again.

Hugs to all,
Kyra @->->-

Hi Kyra-

I just posted an intro in the newbie section (so you know who I am). I have lived in Fort Collins for a number of years in the late 1990s (went to grad school at CSU, finished a MS, now finishing a PhD). My wife and I love Ft Fun and have lots of friends there!

Hopefully you have some friends there already. In case not, hope I can give you some ideas on CDing, and fun places and food. You'll figure it out fast. CDs are very welcome at the Rainbow (?) restaurant on Laurel. It's a stand-alone bldg. just west of Mason (going west from College). Also, most bars are pretty liberal in town.

The Rocky Mountain Tau Sigma Kappa (RMTSK) Tri-Ess has been very active in Ft Fun, doing presentations at CSU (Colorado State University - go Bradlee !!) and FRCC (Front-Range Community College). Hope Beauty won't mind their link -

http://www.rmtsk.org/

In fact, the outreach coodinator Jeanine lives in town there or very close in the foothills. There aren't a lot of actively open CDs that I have seen; there is a lot more in Denver.

Here are some food tips - email me if you want details or to chat more.

best pizza - Cozzolas (Old Town, cross street off Walnut near the martini bar)
best veggie - Avo's on Mason (superb veggie burgers)
best breakfast to make you feel back in/near the Quarter - Lucilles off Mulberry (near Mathews?) has creole coffee, great grits, buscuits, even beignets!
best beer - New Belgium? O'Dells? oh try them all in town - all made there
best liquor store for beer and wine - Aggie on Mulberry
best ice cream - Walrus on Mountain - swiss dark is my fave!
best italian - Pucinellas (very $$$$$)
best burritos - Big City on College/Mulberry

There is a lot going on for CDs in the Fort Collins/Denver area! I'll post a bunch of links on the link page.

Have fun and if you need fuel for the coffee pot, go to Starry Night in Old Town or Deja Vu for beans.

Welcome to the near-neigborhood. I'm up there about every other month from Denver visiting friends or at CSU. Apologies to others for discussing a bit too much "local" stuff.
Hugs-
-Joanie

PS- for those football fans, Bradlee van Pelt (CSU alum) is now no. 2 on the QB depth chart for the Broncos!

Hi all,
Thanks Joanie, Beauty's right. You get the star of the day!! I've not had much time to research the TG/TV scene here yet. the info you've provided is a great start! Thanks so much! (--)

Hugs,
Kyra

P.S. - We've been to the Walrus. I had a great chocolate malted! Yum yum. Oh, I've had a Fat Tire and New Belgium (beer). Liked 'em both. Looking forward to trying the rest. ||oo||

Hi Kyra-

You are very welcome! If you need more info on TG/TV than what I posted in the links section, let me know and I'll dig it up. Even though I don't get out much, I try and at least keep informed.

Oh- almost forgot THE BEST, yes THE BEST place EVER to see a concert is right down the street from you - Mishawaka in Poudre Canyon. I've seen Bela Fleck there and other bands many a time. Why is it the best? (please, no flames..) Small ( only holds about 800 crammed in), outdoors, rustic, right on the river, in the middle of nowhere and out of this world beautiful, and very intimate setting. Just go to mishawakaconcerts dot com and you'll see the pics. Of course, if it isn't your music style, then... sorry.
