As I have posted here before, I have a teenage daughter.

Some stuff about her and her friends.

She and her clique of about 4 girlfriends hang out with a bunch of boys the same age. All good friends. Sometimes they are dating, usually not. They like to dress one of them up and put makeup on him.

He doesn't seem to mind. It is not a secret. The other boys know. It is a nonevent. The boys will joke about buying him a bra and panties for Christmass but it is a comfortable joking.

My initial concern was is this some sort of sex play. (Leaving aside the fact that at this age everything can have a sexual component) I talked with my wife about this who has been present while it happens. She says she thinks not.

I keep thinking how lucky this boy is. And then I wonder if his friends have started him down a road he might rather not take even if he will love it. I think of him someday explaining to his SO how it all started and it was my child. Not sure about how I feel about that. Or maybe the lack of secrecy will rob it of it's power.

What strikes me the most is how much it is a non event.

I drove my daughter home from a friends house the other night. This boy was going to walk home. He lives nearby. She offered him a ride and he said no thanks. I said to my daughter that I guessed it was fine for him to walk home late at night as he was in his guy clothes. She thought this was worth a chuckle, not too much more.

On another note my daughter went through a phase not long ago of really preferring to wear boys underwear. The tightie whities we like to hate. She said it was just more comfortable. I guess the grass is always greener elsewhere. Her grandfather was sorting the laundry and came across them and when we explained he thought this was just fine as long as her boyfriend doesn't wear hers in exchange. Who knows? I didn't ask her about that.

As far as I am concerned though a woman (any female past her first period) who wears tightie whities with a fly is a female crossdresser. Kind of cute.

As for any implications about what does it mean that she wears her boyfriends underwear, of course there are plenty but I am not going there in this forum.

This is not how things were when I was her age, back before they discovered fire and were still living in trees.

Interesting Andrea. Although girls putting makeup on guys has been going on for ages, other boys in the know and not being mean about it seems to be unusual.

As for your daughter saying tighty whities are more comfortable

Like I said the grass is always greener somewhere else. I think she finds it goes well with the unconventional persona she tries to sometimes portray, not that anyone outside the locker room should know. But then we know that girls dress for each other. For all I know she has started a trend in her clique.

I think that's absolutely true. I also think we're heading into a future where "genderplay" won't be seen as the disconcerting thing it is today. It'll become just another way in which human beings express themselves. When crossdressing is a non-event to the person who does it, it increases the likelihood that it becomes a non-event for those who are part of his circle as well.

Yes, in many ways, that boy is lucky (though it's hard to say this without knowing how he feels or what he's going through) but so is your daughter, Andrea. She'll grow up to be an adult with that extra feather in her hat: an acceptance of human diversity.

Kudos to her! And kudos to both you and your wife for making room for her to explore the possibilities of "human doing."

I'm a little surprised by your story, but not too much. It seems as though the younger you go, the more they are going to push the envelope. When I was reading your post, I thought about a lesbian friend of mine who I went to high school with. She was one in a few who had come out of the closet back then. (96-00 school year)

My little sister graduated from our same high school in 04. She told me that alot of people had come out since then. Gay guys, bi girls... and no one had a problem with it. Which is good.

I just think that pretty soon, no one will care to think anything about it. It'll be normal. Compare that to ... say 50 years ago? *shrug*

Maybe if we are lucky, the same thing will occur with crossdressing? It'll be so common that no one will think about it...

Or maybe that's just wishful thinking.

This whole thing makes me think about how grateful I am to have all this information about crossdressing at my disposal. The older folks had to deal with alot more than I probably have, just because this information wasn't readily available. 3 cheers for the pioneers.
