They have a feedback page. I think I'll give them a piece of my mind.
My feedback:
I find your commentary of the gender issue for Barbie insulting and uninformed.
You should know that sexual orientation and gender identity are separate and distinct characteristics. Just because a a group includes T in LGBT does not change that fact. T was added for political activism reasons, due to discrimination against the transgendered. Many in the gay community would prefer not to include the transgendered.
Additionally, 90% of the transgendered are heterosexual 'cross-dressers' and a good number of us are married with no gay or bi tendencies.
What Mattel has done, with the Barbie poll is directed mor to boys than girls. Girls that have issues with their gender are not likely to be going to be going to a Barbie website. Boys, however, may more inclined to do so. Boys that have issues with thier gender, and I know many men upwards of 80 yrs old, that have told me they had issues of gender identity when 3 to 8 yrs of age. My first gender issues arose when I was 7. Note I had a stable loving family and was the 2nd of 5 boys, no girls. None of my brothers have issues with gender identity or sexual orientation.
The boys going to the Barbie web site are most likely looking for dolls to play with. The poll will not make any of these boys confused about their gender, for they are probably already confused, or they wouldn't be there.
Your audio commentary is degrading to those of us, kids and adult alike, that have transgendered issues. But most of all it promotes bigotry based on sexual orientation or gender identity. I'd be prouder to know someone that is gay than I would to know a bigot.
A bigot is a prejudiced person who is intolerant of any opinions differing from their own. The origin of the word in English dates back to at least 1598, via Middle French, and started with the sense of religious hypocrite, especially a woman. Today, it is considered a synonym of narrow-minded.
Bigot is often used as pejorative term against a person who is obstinately devoted to his or her prejudices even when these prejudices are challenged or proven to be false, often engaging these prejudices in a rude and intolerant manner. Forms of bigotry may have a related ideology, like racism, religion, nationalism, and homophobia.
