My former look a like in the news

Post by Merinda »

My 1970's look a like was in the news yesterday (fall of a teen idol) , Leif Garrett on drugs and fare evasion charges.

In the Mid-late 1970's it was common for someone to say to me that I looked like Leif Garret , espessially my own Mother who still makes the comparison from that time.

My mother pointed out the 70's photo Leif in the newspaper yesterday and said to my father " who does this look like"?

He answered " cant see from here "

Moving the paper closer my mother said " dont you think he looks like N*** once did "?

My fathers comment " ooohh! I thought it was some girl"

Sorry Leif , but that made my day!

Hi Merinda,

If that photo is you? Then I would have to agree that you two were made in the same mold.

Love always,

I had a poster of Leif on my bedroom wall as a kid! I thought I was the only person who could remember him
Yeah, you do look a like!

Hi all,

Let me guess, Curly, the poster of Leif was right up there, sandwiched between posters of David Partridge and the cast of the Goodies?

Yes, Merinda, I see the resemblance as well. You haven't also been in the news lately, too, have you?

CJ

Hey, Merinda - -

I agree you do look a lot like Leif - wow!

Curly - I, too, had a poster of Leif on my bedroom wall, and yes, CJ, it was right next to David Cassidy (who played Keith Partridge) and his brother Shaun Cassidy! Ah, yes, fond memories of those gorgeous males!

Merinda, I checked out your pics-like lief-but better looking !MO :) They are great pics!

I did have David Cassidy on my wall for a short while, though my best friend liked him more than me :) I've checked some fansites to see what they look like now...Lief still gets my vote  (It is Sunday and I really don't have anything better to do  )

"The Goodies"?! C'mon, CJ! Image

I watched them on T.V but they certainly didn't meet the criteria to be blue-tacked to my wall! John Travolta was my first real love *^^*

Hi all,

Wow! Is that a crossed wire or what!!?!? :P David Partridge? Heh. Now here's another: How 'bout Inspector Peter Clouseau of the Sûreté?

Now, just for the record, I'm not ashamed to admit that I sported Hardy Boys hair (although I looked nothing like either Shaun Cassidy or Parker Stevenson) back in my teens and, yes, I wore leather-and-wood clogs and bell-bottom jeans!

Image

My own teen years look-alike poster was, of course, the classic Farrah Fawcett-Majors swimsuit poster. Did I say "look-alike"? Yes, I did, didn't I? Well, in my dreams, anyway. :P

Hey Curly, don't knock the Goodies! In my mind, along with Benny Hill and the gang at Monty Python, the Goodies were part of the best comedy troupes to come out of the 70's. I remember laughing so hard at the sketch where they had a Godzilla-sized kitten terrorizing the city (replete with the required cardboard skycrapers) that I very nearly, uh, spilled some milk.

Ah, the good ol' days...

Love,
CJ

That's an interesting resemblance Merinda. I agree with Curly, you just look better!

Posters on my sister's wall were: Leif Garrett, Andy Gibb, and his brothers The BeeGees.

CJ, I had the same Farrah Fawcett pin up, and my favorite: Daisy Duke (Catherine Bach)

Like you, there was only one poster that never left my wall when I was growing up. Farrah Fawcett Majors. Who could resist that classic pose, along with my by fave show at the time, Charlie's Angels.

I also enjoyed The Goodies. Haven't seen them in years! In Curly's picture (L-R) Bill, Tim and especially Graeme were hilarious. For those of you wondering about that big dog in the picture, that would be Dougall of The Magic Roundabout - one of my favourite kids shows which was always a great target for parody by comedians of the time. "OK, time for bed", said Zebedee. Boing! ..^..

Hey, Kyra - I had those same posters on my bedroom walls, and I still like the BeeGees - oh, yeah, and their singing, too!! :P

I, too, wished I had looked like Farrah Fawcett-Majors and Catherine Bach when I was growing up - - and right now, I'm working on looking like a shorter version of Daisy Duke, minus the long hair! Hmmm, another 10# will do it, I think! [-o<

CJ and SW - I don't recall ever hearing about The Goodies - - are they a Canadian thing?

Hi all,

Silver Lady,

The Goodies was a British comedy show that aired in the 1970's. It was a gem.

Thanks ladies for your lovely comments ((G))

I will remove my photo's in a day or so because theres a small chance that I could be identified , the chance is greater the longer they're up.

I think David Cassidy (Partridge) would be my envy , good looking guy with that girl attracting charm.

Nobody mentioned Davey Jones !

Sorry, Merinda -

Although Davey Jones was cute, he was nowhere near the same league as David Cassidy, IMHO, and David Cassidy still looks pretty hot today - in a more mature way, of course.

But as far as male singers go, then and now - - no one beats Neil Diamond or Barry Gibbs (of the BeeGee's)!!
