A Little Step

A little step happend to me 21'st.

Normally as many of you know of me.. when i go out to buy anything femme on my own i am as red as a ripe tomato  and sweat like i'm baking... well not today (yesterday now). Went out in drab and went to our town centre on the intention of buying something femme and not feeling the 99% of embarrest

.. so got to the lingure stall in the main market and bought (with the assistance of the lady behind the counter) 3 garter/suspender belts (one black, white and cream) and stockings to go with them (though she only had them in black so only got the one). I only felt 1% embarrest \:D/ and felt more at ease this time... One little step as a time ah ladies

I am so *-* with myself and i know many of you will be.. I told my wife who was ..OO.. and ..^.. to say the least that i managed to do that all on my own.

That's Great!

I have been working at being able to purchase items myself, not much into the undergarments, but I love shoes! Just can seem to get myself to go over the edge and actually buy some in person. There was a nice pair of black pumps at the thrift store today, in a size 12, very rare around here. unfortunetly I just could not pick them up. But I could buy the pink and grey minie skirt, it is all in the head. I may have to drag my wife with for courage, though she will want to make fun of me for not being able to do it myself.

Congratulations Pauline. =D>

And the ground didn't open up an swallow you whole :P

Jenny, it's quite simple if you know that there's nothing wrong with what you do.

Own who you are. Don't be a slave to fear or embarrassment.

But be careful, I've a lot more heels than men's shoes.

Hi all,

Jenney,

What Donna said! !!!yes!!! (including the part about owning way, way too many shapely shoes...even though there are some folks here--GG's included--who would say you can never own too many shoes...)

The first time I bought heels for myself, I was petrified. As time goes by, you start wondering, "Why am I afraid to do this? It doesn't make sense. What am I afraid of? Being the recipient of a sour salesperson's frown? Really, who cares?" I've been buying shoes (and clothes and makeup and what have you) for a long time now and only once did I ever get the evil eye from the woman behind the counter (along with a prissy "these shoes are for women, you know!"). Tell you what, though, Jenney, that woman took my money anyway (all $3.99!); that's her job. One day, she just might judge one customer too many and find herself holding a pink slip (no, not that kind; the other kind  ). Whenever you're in a size-12-high-heeled-shoe-carrying thrift shop again, Jenney, bring those babies up to the counter and smile, even though you're quaking inside. It does get easier with time. Here's a tip from a leading footwear manufacturer: "Just Do It!"

Pauline,

All the more power to you! Really, when you think about it, there's not that much to be embarrassed about; to us, it may be luscious lingerie but, to the person working there, it's just clothes. Congrats on lowering your "red-faced quotient," Pauline; if we only knew how many men buy lingerie (for whatever reason), we'd be embarrassed at our own embarrassment, I swear!

Press on, ladies, press on! Take a page from Jeannie's book: life is what you make of it. And time is fleeting.

Love,
CJ

Hi Ladies.

I do agree with "what are we really afraid of?.. I mean for all of us that shop in drab or en femme.. a sale is a sale and if they (the assistance/clerk) refuse to sell they have to provide a very good explenation of why not or they will be finding themselves facing the dole cue i would assume (i know never asume anything).

A sale is a sale and many men buy female items for their wives and girlfriends without embarresment (unless they get the size wrong lol) and to the shop/store they gain the money from the items bought etc. I bet most men do state it's for the S.O. trying to state its not for them only ending up with the assistant thinking "yeah right".. lol

So... Jenney rememeber.. for all they know they are not for you but your S.O. There is no law that states you have to tell them whom they are for :) . unless you ask to try them on (stating you and your S.O. are the same size could be a way out) or just go for it (we only live once).

The 21'st refers to the date of the month. and it also being our 2nd wedding annyversary @@9@@ .

"Bring those bay's up to the counter and smile!" That is what girls do a lot more of than guys. They smile and it opens doors in more ways than you can imagine. I have never been asked why I buy certain sizes or colors or "unmentionables." If you buy, for example, a bra say a 44-DD you don't really think the sales person is going to say, "Wow your wife must really be stacked!" or "I sure would like to meet YOUR girlfriend!" they usually haven't a clue who it for and most could care less. Now those of my sisters who ask for help and actually try on the undergarments before they buy them - now that is beyond COOL!!!!!
Shop on ladies!

I agree with Virginia... and others.

Bring those great items right up to the register and smile! I'm always very pleasant to people and really understand how hard it can be sometimes working with the public in retail. I had my share of time working retail, and you really enjoy and appreciate the pleasant customer who makes your day.

They really won't remember what you bought, and really won't care either. Most sales staff are just doing their job. I'm never embarassed buying anything. Also, you'd be surprised how many GG clerks will comment on how nice something you're buying is. Or, share information about styles or brands that they personally like or wear.

You really feel great when a GG sales clerk tells you that the item you're buying is a favorite of theirs, and they also wear that!

So.... have fun and smile at the register clerk!
