When I write on this forum

General talk about CD/TGing and gender topics that aren't necessarily fun things we do while en femme, or for gender-driven discussions.

When I write on this forum

Post by Danielle La Belle »

Hi Girls:

One thing that I wish to make clear. When I write on this forum, I am not writing to be "right." For me, my point of view could be as right or wrong as any other. It is just a point of view.

I have learned over the years that points of view are like "belly buttons," we all have one. No exeption on this distinct human condition. Small, large, in or out, no matter. It is an observable feature at some level with every human born and separated from their mother.

So, consider my opinions just that. If you agree, fine. If not, that is fine as well. You will get no argument from me that you may well have a better point of view than I.

I try to always write from my heart and not my ego. :) :) :)

Hugs

Danielle Marie

Hi Danielle,

From what I have seen from the posts here, I think that is generally true. Some of us are more opinionated than others, but I see a respect here for each others opinions. I have yet to spot an "ad hominum" argument in this forum. Maybe it is because of judicious editing, but more likely it represents the level of intellectual honesty and understanding. One of my many reasons for frequenting this group.

BTW, I love to do the "devil's advocate" sometimes.

Hugs,
Lydia

Floridaians - my gosh they are everywhere!
Thanks and I would much rather have to deal with "the devil's advocate" than be grabbed my the hair and drug off to the wood shed!
But you are both right, our sisters here are open minded and some are more vocal than others, but mostly we are family and we share and cope, and love and cry and laugh and we have our disagreements but we hug and hopefully learn from each other and continue our "Magical Mystery Tour!"
Love,
Virginia
PS: when I come down to Florida in about 9 days the weather better be nice, cause I know where you all live!!

Virginia,

I don't know where in Florida you are going, but I guarantee it will be hot and probably rainy.

I'll just put my two cents worth in....

I agree with you all also. This is THE best forum for CDs on the web, IMHO. Some other sites I stop into once in a while have so much flaming and other nonsense, that I really don't feel they are at all like us here. Most everyone has respect for others and their opinions, whether or not they agree.

I sincerly hope our forum never changes!

And my thanks to everyone for just being who you are!

When I write on this forum

Post by Sally »

Hi Danielle,

I agree with what you say in that we all have opinions and are entitled to express them in a non offensive manner. Similar to you, anything which I write is not written with the intention of it being right, it is written as I see things through my experiences and life in general after a lifetime of trying to find my way through 'the maze'.

If only one thing we write helps another person then we have accomplished something good and of value, and that is one of the main reasons of why I participate here. We may all belong to a wider varying 'family' but we are the same as all other people on this earth in that we are all different, either in a very small way or a somewhat larger difference, depending on the individual. Water always seeks to find it's own level and that's what I consider paramount for everyone of us to strive for, we each need to find the comfort level in who or what we are so that we enjoy life and the comforts it provides when we are free as we can be of stress and fear, depending on our individual circumstances.

I see the true value of well conducted forums such as this one being the fact that we can all express opinions and offer suggestions without fear of hostile reprisals, and through those opinions and suggestions hopefully others may find some value content which may help them through a difficult time or provide an answer they may not be in a position to go seek in their day to day life. I think that by giving examples of our experiences it may well assist another person to take what they want from that experience and apply it to their personal situation, but I could never say that I'm right and another person is wrong, what's right for me may be totally wrong for the other person and vice versa.

I treat other people's opinions with respect and if we don't agree then we should agree to disagree in a way so that everyone maintains their dignity, and when we write anything be aware of the fact that many men, women and children from many different walks of life may well read what we write. People are very influenced by what they read and they form their own impressions (adverse or not) of the author and any group he or she may purport to belong to, and I believe that if we're to take our rightful place in society one day then one of the first steps is to create a good impression to those who may currently look at us in an adverse manner through their ignorance due to lack of education. We can be the educators and teachers if we do it in the correct manner so that 'outsiders' respond favourably. People will not open their minds to receptive learning on any subject if they're started off on the wrong foot.

Kind Regards,

Sally.

Hi all,

Sorry, Sally, but I beg to differ!

(Just kidding! :P )

I agree completely with you all. I especially agree with the "agree to disagree while keeping our dignity" part that Sally mentions (and, for me, this is where the distaste for the "art of flaming" comes; it's the kind of thing we see in schoolyards... and bullying never gets anyone anywhere).

This is what I like about this forum (and why it'll always be a kind of home for me): not only are we capable of each welcoming others into our lives as transgendered individuals (with widely different experiences as such) but we can do so despite the fact that there's a variety of political slants, socio-economic backgrounds, and spiritual stances. I find this very telling. Yes, there have been heated debates; yes, there have been arguments; yes, there has even been the occasional flaming (or, at the very least, sizzling and smoldering) but it seems that most of our members are able to never lose sight of "the bigger picture," which, I think, is the fact that, as persons whose gender identities are at odds with the usual expectations, we're "looking to be born" with beauty, dignity, grace, and power in a world that has no real love for difference despite its paying lip service to diversity.

When I write on this forum (to go with Danielle's flow), I usually do so as a form of therapy. It's as though I were keeping an online journal of my own struggles to become who I am and it just happens to be the case that others have access to it, and I see other people's posts in pretty much the same way; we are here to shed light on one another's paths and if someone else's light lets us see things more clearly in our darker moments (and vice versa), then, for me, this is reason enough for the existence and the continued success of this board. And, yes, as most of you know, I also like to play devil's advocate sometimes but I try as best I can to do so gently and with humour (I hope); I do so as a way of inviting input, of courting a variety of opinions, thoughts, ideas, and feelings on any given subject. Why do I do this? Well, for one thing, I like variety (I've always described myself as an "experience junkie" and that would certainly include the experience of others, of course) but, mostly, I court that variety because I know, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that this forum can handle diversity and not only survive but thrive.

It is home.

Love,
CJ

When I write things on this forum it makes me feel better. It's a stress reliever for me. Reading other's stories makes me feel better about myself because I found out I was not the only person on the planet like this. Of course I can't write like some of you ladies. Donna,Danielle,Lydia ,Virgina,Elisabeth, and a host of others and of course you CJ.You ladies are wonderful. It seems lots of the CDers are very smart. They should test all you ladies and come up with an average inteligence score. I would contribute in my own way by bringing down the average score so all you ladies don't get big heads!
Gotta run. It's 7:56 and my idiot boss gets mad if I show up late. Wait a minute! I am the boss!

When I write or read this forum it helps me remind myself that I am not the only crossdresser. By that it means that I feel better about the fact that it is not that strange. It is nice to have a place where I can join in to intelligent conversations.
