Estroven

Post by Gerri »

Hi All,
I was just wondering if any of you girls have tried taking Estroven. I have been taking one tablet 3 or 4 times a week over the past few months. I don't know if it's wishful thinking or real but I have noticed that my breasts have gotten rounder, fuller and firmer and are very sensitive (in a good way) and that I seem to see the world in a whole new aspect. It's like looking through fem colored glasses. I have also become more emotional, both good and bad and just have a whole new female attitude. I have done research on the internet about side effects and there dosen't seem to be any and I feel great, health wise. I would like to hear anybody else's thoughts.
Thanks,
Gerri

I've no clue on how safe Estroven is, healthwise, but would always suggest the user make sure their doctor is aware of such use.

At your age you are more susceptible to blood clots and liver damage, things that can go wrong while you feel perfectly healthy.

And have you mentioned this to your wife?

No, I have not told my wife about the estroven thing. I thought the bloodclot risk was with real estrogen? Since Estroven is all natural I didn't think there was a risk and I don't think I could talk to my doctor about that.

Hi Gerri,

Here is a copy of a comment I posted some time ago:

"If you are considering hormones or other drugs, please, please, be VERY careful. Do not, under any circumstances ingest or apply any hormones without supervision from a competent physician trained in endocrinology. The same caution goes for herbal hormone substitutes or so-called equivalents. Those can be even more dangerous, since their dosages and compounding is totally unregulated.

The endocrine system is extremely complex, and it involves a delicate, indeed precarious, balance among several hormone producing glands: the gonads, the different parts of the pituitary, different parts of the adrenals, the thyroid, parathyroid, even parts of the liver, pancreas, and brain are included in this system. Each gland has an effect on the others, and any disturbance of one can cause far-reaching - even fatal results. In other words, don't fool around with the endocrine system. "

Frankly, I think that a lot of your "changes" you describe are either imaginary or psychosomatic. The so-called "natural" products are no more natural than anything else you get from a pharmacy. What is worse is that these products have not been adequately tested. Even thoroughly tested and FDA drugs have been found to be unhealthy to use - witness the vioxx scandal. Don't take any medicines, no matter how well advertised, without the advice of a COMPETENT physician.

Once you register here, you are our close friend, and we don't want our friends to hurt themselves.

Hugs,

Lydia

Estroven

I very much doubt the degree of effectiveness of herbal substances such as Estroven because I’ve never seen any physical evidence that they have produced positive results, but I have seen the placebo effect of them with some people.
The reason why the sale of herbal products isn't controlled by Drug and Food authorities is because there is no meaningful scientific evidence that they are effective to the claims made by the manufacturers. Having said this, I also believe that if someone finds something positive in them (even if it's all in the mind), and they believe it's working for them, then so be it.

In the days before I consulted medics regarding my transition and taking of female hormones, I did indeed experiment with several herbal products which touted that their estrogen content would bring about physical and emotional changes, but the only thing which changed was my bank balance for the worse. I’ve also spoken personally with many people in the TG world who have experimented with herbal estrogen products and the greater majority corroborate my findings and a small percentage who say they have experienced changes have never been able to show what those changes are, to me it’s all been in their mind and simply wishful thinking. I get back to what I said previously and that is if these so called herbal miracle products were capable of producing bodily physical changes then their sale would be regulated, and they wouldn’t be available off the supermarket shelf.

I once spoke with a medical scientist who had worked experimenting and testing in the field of herbs, and he said that the reason they work so well with Asian women is because all their life they eat these types of herbs and they form a build up in their system so that when they reach menopause time these herbs work for them because of the presence of the build up over the years. I can’t use the terminology which he used but you get the idea of what he was getting at. He also said that the dosage of these herbs required to bring about any noticeable effect is so high that to people who are not used to taking them over a lifetime, that required dosage may well have a deleterious effect on that person. He also said that in his experiments he had seen the placebo product have the same, if not a larger effect at times than the target product, and that’s because the human spirit works in mysterious ways, it can do weird and wonderful things at times, but it’s nothing to do with the medicinal capabilities of the herb.

I’ve been taking female hormones (Femtran) for 6 years and sometimes what we wish for produces other things we’d rather not have, but if the need is desperate enough to get the good, we have to have the bad as well, so one has to be absolutely certain of what they’re doing with these things because they are life changing believe you me, and some of those changes are irreversible. I think that the greater majority of men who cross dress have at some time in their life had thoughts along the lines of wanting a greater female presence in themselves, but it’s only ever the very minority who prove to be right for the transition process. I know it’s easy to get caught up in the euphoria and it’s so easy to get ahead of yourself, but there’s a lot more to it all than just popping a pill or putting on a patch.

Kind Regards,

Sally.
