Girls, initially I had no idea I would continue to use this forum when I joined.
I've found out other wards and now it is my best form of support as I go through my journey.
I had never thought about my name, and in retrospect, decided it was not fitting and too close to my real name.
I did some searches on the meaning of names and decided to change mine.
Old name: Robyn Finally
Changed to: Carla L

Lori - thank you. I appreciate it. Not sure how I've helped but if I did, so be it.
Anyhow, I will continue to post as before.

Hi Carla L
Your sister Robyn and you are both cute! You can fill me in how fresh she was when she was a little girl. I won't tell. Trust me. Would I lie? "loose lips sink ships" Amen
I gotta run. I'm going out to lunch with Oprah and her friend Gail(Yeah right!) again. They love to go shopping with me. Hugs and have great weekend.
Love
Jeannie
PS. Oprah won't have me as a guest on her show. She told me I have a big mouth. Where did she get that idea? I'm mortified!

Thanks for letting us know.
I grabbed the first name I could think of when I came here also and then changed it to something that I felt fit me better latter. One of the luxuries of picking your own name.....

Carla,
That's a nice name. Pretty and very feminine. I, too joined the forum and when they asked for a name I got nervous and picked the first one that came to mind. My sister's. I was just so excited about finding a place with others like me (CDer's). Until then I really had just stayed mostly in the closet. After I was here for a short time I realized how much more free I felt having all of you to talk to and get advice from. I decided to change my name to one that meant something in my life so I called myself Lisbeth after one of my therapists that helped me through some really rocky points in my life. She was one of the few that I even attempted to explain my CDing to and she helped me tremendously.
Well that's enough out of me. I tend to ramble on. Sorry
I like the change,though. You "wear"it well.
Lisbeth

You look more like a "Carla" anyway!
Virginia was like some of our sisters who have posted. Just to find girls like me was so refreshing and enriching, I picked a name that I felt had multiple uses within various situations, Deborah, Debbie, Deb! Then as I became more in-tune with this beautiful gift and I began to furthur understand how fortunate I was and actually had a history that I had ignored, Debbie, was looking through some old photographs. When I came across some of my mother. I took them to the mirror and well, there was a resemblence, well actually we could be "sisters?" Don't get smart, but a voice in my head, asked, "Well Mom, what do you think of your 'daughter?'" Then it was like the proverbial 2x4 between the eyes, she, my mother and my grandmother, gave me the genes, and I know in my heart they would both be proud of their "daughter/granddaughter" so why not honor them, i.e., "Virginia Irene."
That's how this lady came to be!
Love you,
Virginia

Thanks Virginia, it was nice to hear your story. I can't say I did so much, but I did search the internet, found some names and started weeding them down.
After that I searched for the meaning of the names. I liked the sound of Carla and the meaning. though feminine sounding, means manly!
Hmmm,, kind of like the best of both worlds. So here I am.

Robyn is finally Carla!
I like your new name, Carla; it has a feminine touch that matches your picture! By coincidence, I know a GG in the Bay Area who is also named Carla!
