Well no points for style or grace there. The cassino might have a point, but I doubt it. Could have handled it better, no doubt there.

If she didn't take the time to get her ID photo updated and went to a place that requires ID, I have to side with the casino on this one.
Casino require ID, because winnings have to be recorded and filed with the IRS or have witholding taken out.
I beleive she is flat out lying when she say that her ID not matching her apperance has never been an issue at airports. getting the gender changed, or even a feminine name change requires counceling letters in most states, but it VERY easy to get a photo retaken for a lisence or passport.

The story stated that she could not change her TX id because she has not undergone gender reassignment surgery. Which is the law in TX. I agree the casino could have handled the situation better however they were following the law to the letter. As I work security at ren. faires on the weekends I know how important it is to follow rules by the letter.

There is no law in TX, Louisiana, or any other state that says you can't get an updated accurate photo on your ID.
"looked similar to the photo on her ID" similar isn't an accruate photo.
"We have to be black and white, by the book. Either the person’s ID is representative of how they look or it isn’t,"
Why didn't she look like her ID?

Amanda is right, there is no law preventing any CD, TG or TS in getting their photo changed on their ID in TX or LA or in any other state for that matter. The law relates only to the gender classification on an ID. Most CD's do not live as women and therefore it would not make much sense to have your ID altered. However, in the TG case, it would have made sense to get her photo updated since she is living as a woman and is in fact a female impersonator.
The other truth to the matter is that in TX and LA the casinos are allowed to set their own policies regardless of the ID requirements. So they could have allowed her in. The reason they choose the path they did is for liability. As Amanda pointed out taxes, records etc. must be kept and therefore if a casino has a policy that does not comply with the standard of law, they accept the liability for the policy.
Irregardless, she should sue for having to suffer humiliation, there was no call to treat her the way the story depicted. And let's be real, how many of us really look like our ID photos anyway, gender aside, mine still has a mustache! I think there is more to the story than is being told in that article but it was interesting to read!
Hugs...

I do know here in Texas that you can get a offical ID card. It is not a DL but is official ID for everything else. Not sure if you can have both a DL and the ID card.

Hugz,

Wlecome to the forum Veronica.
I doubt any state will issue two DLs. Especially since 9/11.

I used to work in the gaming industry. Most states casino laws permit the operator to deny entrance to ANY individual for ANY reason, or for no reason. You should see the film "21". Also the older film "Rain Man". Casinos often deny entrance to card counters, because the casino is in business to make money.

Step forward & present ID please! I have an issue with the whole concept of having the government determine what gender I am, I feel the less I have to use any form of ID for any purpose the better. & come on, if the ID has male name & face but it is being carried by a female, it's pretty obvious what's going on. Casino employees could have showed some discretion, at the least ushered this lady to a private space where she didn't have to stand around while the locals got to gawk&point at the 'hommasekshul shemale'.
"He said if you're a man, then you have to look like a man to come into our casino,"
So inappropriate.
