Hi, Eureka -
When you say sore legs, do you mean they're itching from the shaving? Could be overly-dry skin, ingrown hairs, reaction to the sharp razor, or all of the above.
The trick is to use a sharp razor each time you shave, shave in the direction of the hair growth, but you should also use a shaving cream or lotion because it will help soften the hair as you shave. Aveeno has some good products just for that.
Did you check the Fashion & Beauty section for any shaving tips? I'm fairly sure there is at least one thread on shaving . . . and I know Donna will give you some good tips, too.

Use Aveeno Positively Smooth Shaving Gel, then follow up with
Aveeno Clear Complexion Daily Moisturizer
The salicylic acid will help clear up the blemishes.
Exfoliate avery couple of days.

If your going to shave, use a 3 blade disposable and dispose of it every time. I stopped and bought an epilator

I've had great results with Nair for men and women. They both work about the same and I've never had any irritation or rash. It's also important to exfoliate your skin. That just means scrubbing off the dead dry skin with a good loofa or something similar.
If your going to shave though, I agree. Use a new razor with at least 3 blades and don't use it more than a couple of times.

I suggest the Shick Intuition. I use it and love it. It has three blades and soap around the head so no need for shaving creams. I also as soon as I get out of the shower put on lotion.

One other tip - exfoliate well by scrubbing (okay, washing) with a soapy washcloth or nylon puff. By removing excess dead or dry skin before shaving, you reduce the drag on the razor. This is often a source of irritation. Moisturizing afterwards is an absolute must. Neutrogena makes a wonderful sesame oil moisturizer, and Wal-Mart has an Equate generic version that works well, too. If you don't care for the sesame smell, any other skin lotion applied after the shower/bath helps immensely.
