Ankle straps or slingbacks

Post by Miriam »

Shoes, shoes, shoes, a cder's dream. What looks best on some, doesn't always look best on you. Let's take ankle strap high heel sandals, don't get me wrong I love them and have several pair, but when I wear them with a shorter dress they make me look heavier, why, because your eyes tend to focus on your ankles and the ankle strap breaks the smooth line from your knee down. So with a shorter dress I wear slingbacks with either an open toe or closed toe and get a much better look.

I do, however, now wear ankle straps with longer skirts and jeans when I need the extra support. When you don't break up the line between the knee and ankle they look great and best in a bright color. Just a thought I wanted to pass on since I've been a heels girl my whole cding life.

Oh Miriam you are so ahead of me on styles and what looks good. Not a feminine thing I am good at. I just know what I like. My wife use to be my fashion consultant. She is good at it but not comfortable doing it for me any more.

Yeah I am with Kimberly on that. If I like what I look like in the mirror I go with it and it probably would be laughed at by most GG's. I only dress for me and have no one to give me advice on fashion.

I like both syles though and go with whateever I think goes with the outfit out of the 10 pairs I have. Someone in a different post said they had about 200 pairs I think. 200! wow I have niether the money or the space for that many shoes.
Every act of kindness is repaid, in some small way some where in the future even if we do not see it at the time. Look at it as a spiritual form of compound interest

I agree with your comment on the leg line length, however, I can't seem to keep the trap of slingbacks up over the heel where they belong. So pumps are a better option.

Or were a better option. Since my stroke I have little balance and the ankle strength in my right ankle is diminished regardless of the strengthening exercises I've done. The integrity of that ankle had been compromised in a bad sprain previously.

I love the look of a slingback but can not wear them as like Donna the strap will not stay up over the heel. #-o

I love to wear both styles, but agree with your point about ankle straps.
