Inexpensive Pantyhose/Tights.

Post by Belinda »

Any thoughts on cheap hosiery girls. When I was younger I used to round off my panthose shopping sprees with a trip to Woolworths, this was in 1982, Woolies hosiery was cheap and nasty in those days and they would invariably snag or ladder very quickly. However in later years I have found some really nice cheap tights in uk stores like Peacocks and Matalan. The matalan tights have proved to be durable, I bought a multi-pack of five in nearly black and they havent snagged once.

British Home Stores also have a great range. Having said that though, I do love to treat myseif with the premium brands like Pretty Polly, and Aristoc. Cant afford too many in the Wolford range a strain on my purse and I did ruin a pair once putting them on, probably a bit carelss in my exitement to wear them.

There are those large overstock type places such as Marshall's here in the US. There are the mail order houses too, like Nationals. We also have the outlet stores. Finally, there are the hopes for a good sale and clearance.

Life is too short for cheap wine or cheap pantyhose. =D>

Don't get me wrong here, there is nothing wrong with getting a good deal on quality merchandise but for the most cheap pantyhose is just that cheap!

There are cheap pantyhose? :) Probably and yeah, cheap is the right word.

Who all remembers those hose advertised on TV that never run? The ones they run the nail file along the inside to show they are impervious. If you had a pair that lasted like that, would that make them inexpensive? I recall owning maybe one pair and I recall they weren't so sheer and the color choices not so good. I think they lasted longer than some of my other hose, but just didn't like them.

BTW ladies. Many stores will take a pair of hose back if they run within the 1st one or two wearings. Especially if they run as you put them on for the 1st time. They are just considered defective.

I like Matalan, and have also had good results with Superdrug own brad hose, of course M & S always have a good range, but not so cheap, on the other hand Primark are cheap, but then.............

I have to admit that I do wear cheap pantyhose on occasion, but I don't like them much and wouldn't recommend them. Basically when I need some and don't have any with then I'll just go somewhere and grab a pair quick.
I prefer the better quality though. I find that Berkshire is a good quality and not unreasonably priced, so I've been buying them lately. Of course I really like the nice $20 ones, but don't wear those every day.

I mostly wear No Nonsense Smart Support pantyhose, which provide the support to my legs as ordered by my Dr. for edema. 3 to 4 dollars at the grocery store.

yes, I like the support tights for improving circulation also. I don't have a problem with edema, but when sitting for long periods (like on a plane) the support really helps. Actually I find wearing tights to be more comfortable than not.

Dollar for Dollar, Leggs SheerEnergy pantyhose are hard to beat IMO. I average about $3 a pair with sales and coupons.

I love wearing a darker shade nylon and Leggs "coffee" is it for me. Many manufacturers like NoNonsense have dropped the coffee/mocha/gentle brown shades. NoNonsense are a good value though, their Sheer Endurance and Renew were very durable, value priced but have been discontinued. JCP Sheer Caress were also a good, long wearing pantyhose but are no longer carried in the stores. Unfortunately the variety to chose from is dwindling.

On special occasions, like a date, I dress up a bit and wear Nordstrom's Light Support in Mocha Beige. Extremely soft, smooth, silky and have sheen.

Just my .02, spend it anyway you want.
