I adore an old-fashioned OBG; just bough two Ragos from secretsinlace and I love the way they feminize my figure and clipping my stockings to the six garter straps just fills me with warmth and makes me feel soo sexy...not a PH girl here...lol

Re: Old Fashioned Girdles
When my sister and I were cleaning out my mother's house we came across several open bottom girdles as well as some panty girdles wth the garters still in them. My sister said she didn't want them and she never wore a girdle (although she sure could use one
) so I took them. Haven't worn them a lot, always been pretty much a pantyhosegirl, but they sre do restrict your stride and give you a feminine gait.

Re: Old Fashioned Girdles
Ladies,
Please allow me to put in my opinion about old fashioned girdles. I have been dressing for many years and have always worn a girdle. Most of the time it will be a high waist long leg style of the 60's & 70's, These were real girdles with double panels, some with down stretch santin elastic panels, usually in the tush area, like the Rago 6210 style.
My girdle collection is extensive, ranging from the proverbial Playtex 18 hour and I cant believe its a girdle girdle, to Exquisit form, to the woinderful old Subtract "girdles for weight loosers" that keep you firm while loosing weight. They are triple tummy panel and double side and tush panels...talk abpit firm...WOW. they really hold one in, but can be worn for hours and hours in complete comfort. There are others manufacturers especially Poirette styles are absoultely wonderful as well. most have 6 garters and the panty styles all have a split crotch to make trips to the ladies room easy. Poirette made the Always 21 style in different lengths...14" 16" and 18 " length all OBG styles with a zipper and 6 garters...wonderfully controlling. Rago is another great girdle...from the light weight briefs to the special needs styles....In fact tonite I'm wearing the black Rago # 6210 with stockings and and an Elila 5715 front hook long line bra, with black day sear stockings, my new black faux leather pencil skirt 3" black pumps, simple silver jewelry, very light makup When I wear black, it makes me feel "wicked"...what ever that means...
One of my all time favorites is the Cupid Duotrol (look up the name on google). This is a special 4" high waist long leg style with triple tummy and double hip and tush panels...the only real draw back is getting it on...a real struggle but absolutly worth the effort...crushing ly tight after first getting it on but after 10 minutes, all you will feel is firm and sleek and I have worn this girdle for 16+ hours without any complaints....the only thing you wil hear is how good you look. My problem is getting undressed....after wearing a controlling girdle for hours, when I take it off i feel flabby and saggy....oh well maybe this is just me.
Another popular style is the Gossard styles..the Answer and the Answer Deb with the double X-crossing tummy panels and some had a single V panel in the tush while others had a satin elastic tush panel combined with satin elastic. what I really liked was the garters (usually 6) but they were placed in excellent positions...the front garters were positioned on the leg seams so they would almost be invisible to an observer, the side garters were up inside the leg as well as the rear garters, which were difficult to hook up but held stockings "just right" to keep them from sagging. I have had the pleasure of owning most of these styles...a real joy to wear. there are of course many others...Perma lift, Penny's adonna and Sears equilivants. Recently I found 2 Playtex 18 Hour high waist long leg panty girdles at an estate sale....one was new and never worn and the other was very lightly worn, the seller noted that these girdles looked like torture devices and she would not be caught dead in anything like that (she was at least a size 16-18W and would benefit from their powers)...I bought them for $ 10 the pair...and they still have their magic powers.
I also wear my high waist girdles with long line bras....I have a muffin top that needs all the help I can give it...which is the reason for the high waist girdle...to anchor the bottom of the bra, With out my "help" I look rather lumpy and bumpy in a skirt suit and an absolute MUST when wearing a swearer dress (at least I do).
There are many different styles still out there, depending on the individual's needaor wants. Look on ebay or the other auction sites ...but I wax nostalgic about old fashioned girdles...I wish someone would bring them back...Spanx are ok but when I dress I want a real girdle...but this is just my opinion.
I applolgize for the ramblings....but you asked.....sort of.....
PM if you want to continue the conversation..
Cheers,
Bobbie R.

Re: Old Fashioned Girdles
Well Bobbi, after reading your post, I definitely became nostalgic. My first experiences with crossdressing was with the open bottom playtex girdles that my mother and neighbor ladies that I babysit for had. I wear spanx now, but you've energized me to go look for some old-fashioned girdles that make a girl just feel like a girl

Re: Old Fashioned Girdles
Remarkable how many of us like girdles! I just bought a Rago 1294, probably the firmest out there today. I LOVE IT!!!! It's firm, but comfortable for all-day wear. I wore it with an Exquisite Form Longline Posture Bra to a party last night on only my second "outing" and had several enquiries about my figure

Personaly I can't see the attraction. I find them uncomfortable and all the GGs I knwo find the same, my others generation had little choice and had to wear such things, most of them stopped as soon as they realised they could.

Re: Old Fashioned Girdles
I've certainly had a couple of exchanges with women (GGs) of my age (50s) who have seen the point. One decided she's need a girdle if she was going to have her picture taken. The other was in M&S where I was shopping for corselettes. She was with her daughter and, quite without prompting, said looking at me in a conspiratorial type way that, when you got to a certain age, these things started to make sense.
What was nice about the second one is it kind of implied I wore corselettes and would understand. But also it was as if she was talking to another woman...

Re: Old Fashioned Girdles
I started out wearing my mother's panty girdle with stockings and have always worn a panty girdle. Now, however, I deem it necessary to wear a high waisted panty girdle. I also liked to wear my mother's "all-in-one". That's next on my wish list.

To continue the thread without overstating the issue...
The Rago 1294 OBG is probably one of the best available in todays market. another great OBG is the Smoothie Always 21.....in the 19" length (six garters, hook & eyes under a zipper...3" high waist...absolutely wonderful. In the summer, I like to wear my OBGs without underwear...commando style.....a great but different feeling. Most OBGs need to have stockings attached to keep them anchored....this is OK as the tugging of the garters is a wonderful feeling. But the feel of wearing the OBG with out under wear...the feeling is sort of weird and one must be extremely consious to watch how one sits, bends over and gets into/out of a car. Remember, a lady never shows what she has on...unless she wants to.....

I love long open bottom girdles. Especially the really rigid ones from the 40's and 50's.
I've been keeping an eye out for these. I love the way the constrict you leg movement.

Re: Old Fashioned Girdles
Bobbie I am so jealous of your girdle collection. I so miss the girdles of the 50's and 60's.
One can find them on line under vintage girdles but they are expensive. I bought 2 from one of these sites years ago.
