Well I purchased my first pair of heels turns out I'm in need of some practise. I LOVE them but after 30 minutes practise my legs were on fire but my wife said she's jealous because my legs look amazing in them *-* talk about putting a smile on my face. http://s1100.photobucket.com/user/benwi ... sort=3&o=0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; here's a pic *-*

Being out of practice and trying heels that tall, yeah, your calves were probably ready to rupture ;)

Times like that you need to work up to higher heels, which is a good excuse/reason for buy more heels, more practical heels.

Heels are more than just practicing walking in them. Your legs have muscles that need to be conditioned. If you haven't worn that height then you need to get used to them but wearing them a short time and increasing the time over days or even weeks. To help the muscles, you can simply put them on and just sit with the occasional getting up with some walking.

If you had any kind of balance before, a good fitting shoe is just an extension of you and your existing balance.

When you finally wear the shoes out in public, take flats with you. No reason to tear up the heel in parking lots and on store floors unnecessarily. Also, once you have called it a night, you will want to pop off the shoes and so you will have your flats. Be warned, no matter how used to wearing the shoes, there is still a chance of your calves cramping when you take the shoes off.

Okay, now give me your shoes :) they are nniicceeeeee.... :)

I just bought my first pair of heels! I love them! I was surprised that I didn't need to much practice to master walking in them!

Davita is right, your muscles need to stretch out to the new shape of your leg.
A while back I read somewhere, maybe it was on here, about a study which found that after women have been wearing heels for years they can't wear flats for very long anymore without pain.
And about the balance, you have to walk the same way as when you're walking on ice. Keep your feet under your body and hold them so that you do not develop any shear force between your foot and the floor.
