Size 13 shoes for my size 14 feet

I really wasn't sure what to use as a title or exactly which section to put this in but I decided it was more about shopping and fashion than anything else. We, my wife and I, went out of town to a wedding this past weekend. While I had intended to work some time to go shopping for Sarah the schedule of events for family didn't allow much time.

I did manage to look into Catherine's and Lane Bryant for a few minutes but didn't find anything that reached out to me. I also needed some new shoes to wear to wedding as my wife thought my old ones were not very reputable. I went to Payless and found a pair to wear to weddimg. Right next to the men's larger size shoes were the women's size 13 shoes. I have been looking for new shoes for the Sarah part of me for some time and hadn't found anything. I saw some flats that caught my eye and I thought well they won't fit, they are size 13 and I would need a 14 but what the heck they are on sale and they are cute. I got them down and tried them on. To my surprise they fit perfectly. About that time one of the SA's came up behind me and asked me if she could help with anything. I could feel my face get red as I looked are her and then down at the flats on my feet. She just smiled at me and said it looks like they fit and I believe those are on sale. I said yes they do fit and I did notice they were on sale. So I left payless with two pairs of shoes.

So if there are others of you out there who have been looking for size 14 shoes you might try the American Eagle brand at payless and see if they will fit. They didn't have any heels that I liked but I think I will order some from Payless in that brand and try them.

Interesting. All the conversions I find say basically add 2 to your men's size for a womans size. That puts me at a 12. But I just bought a pair of Just Fab heels today in 11 (PRAYING they would fit, as i didnt try them on in the store) and they are perfect.

The add 2 is a general rule. You have to take into account how the shoes are made and who made them. Wider shoes can probably be a 1/2 smaller for example. Some heels run big but some tennis shoes run small. You really need to try on the shoes. Also, don't expect them to stretch just perfectly, some parts of the shoe stretch more than others and some parts just don't stretch so they eventually chew on you.

We all know that sizes can vary from brand to brand. Payless does stock larger women's sizes and the SA's are very helpful toward you ladies.

In the store where I bought my shoes the SAs didn't seem to care what section I was in. In the closest payless store to where I live not to long ago I was in the size 13 women's section and the SA came and glared at me and pointed and said to me the men's shoes are over there.

I was recently in the Shoe Department Encore store in the Pueblo Mall because I had heard they had women's shoes in size 14 and the two SA's I talked to in there were helpful. Didn't have anything like what I was looking for but they did help me look. I popped into the payless store there but it was pretty crowded and I was in a bit of hurry so didn't tarry there.

It definitely varies. But with me, most often, it can go the other way. Like I take size 8 as a guy and most of the women's shoes that I've found that fit are size 7.

I have to agree with Anthony there's a lot of variance in shoe sizes between manufacturers. I take a US 8 and my wife take a size 9 (she says I have small feet for a guy) and 90% of her shoes fit me nicely. I've noticed some shoes marked 9 have as much as a shoe size difference. My wife bought a pair of gold 3" pumps to go with her evening dress and I had to put 2 of those silicone heel guards in each shoe just to give her a bit of grip and take up the slack. We were invited to a function at her Father's country club in St Louis and by the end of the evening she said he toes were numb because the shoes were too big and allowed her feet to slide forwards. She kicked them off on the way back to the hotel and walked across the parking lot in hose. The nice desk clerk saw her hobble in and sympathised with her. About half hour later there was a knock on our room door and it was the lady from the front desk she had found some Epsom Salts for my wifes aching feet. I thought that was nice of her.

Why can't they standardize the sizing?
