My wife made a trip to Hawaii prior to our marriage in 1991 and I always admired a beautiful sundress which she was rather protective of. For one thing it is a momento of a wonderful vacation, but it was also very pretty on her. Now she will never wear it again as she is in the final phase of Alzheimer's 7F. So...now it can be a hand me down...if there is jewelry or any clothing which fit and look nice on me why should they go to good will!?
It is white...but has lovely palm fronds, with green and purple leaf patterns with pink passion flowers in the print it is very pretty and...It Fits me perfectly. Funny how a size 18 fits me at a size 10/12 or a woman's large (because of my shoulders) but it does. It is a classic sundress with the elasticized area in the back from the waist to the thin straps.
There was a built in bra but the foam padding inside was completely disintegrated. the lower elastic band of the built in bra was fine. I found that by working the bra as if washing by hand one part against another and clapping it with my hands over the trash can a very fine yellowish powder came right out through the fabric until it was gone...then I put the dress by itself through the wash.
To be able to wear a sundress you have to have breasts as you cannot wear a bra and my prosthetic breasts could slid around inside so...I cut a 15" by 5" piece of fabric and stitched the top and bottom over so the fabric would not frey. then I sewed it to each side of the bra and in the middle. I had to pull the elastic of the lower part of the built in bra and put a tack in the center at the very bottom and half way on each side on each cup. This made two pockets to hold my prosthetic breasts into proper position. I found these were too heavy in such a bodice then I remembered before purchasing my prosthetic breasts I had first purchased foam breast forms in the same size which were not not being used. I pulled out the heavier prosthetic breasts and inserted the lighter foam forms and found to my delight that they were perfect!!! They did not pull the font of the bodice down because they are light and they give to correct shape.
So now I have the pretty sundress of my dreams to enjoy! There is nothing more comfortable and feminine than a pretty sundress! It is so cool! all you wear are a pair of panties, the dress and some sandals or flip flops what could be more pretty, feminine, comfortable, cool and practical for the summer months!?
I had to do one other repair as the very top edge of the bodice had come out of the strap it was sewn into on each side but that was a very easy stitch on each side and I will be able to enjoy a dress of my wife's that I had always loved, and had secretly tried on a few times during our marriage because I always thought it was so pretty but knew it would not work because I did not have breasts, with my little fix I have overcome that problem. Women who have had mastectomies have probably discovered this solution so they can enjoy wearing a pretty sundress or at least I hope they have.
The other flattering thing...aside from being able to have bare shoulders without a bra on...that's really cool, is the length of the dress to about mid calf as my knees and thighs are not really slender but rather chunky and muscular as I run every day and I do not have the subcutaneous fat to soften my knees and legs.

The sundress sounds wonderful but I'd give that mirror a good look. I don't mind and can be amused at seeing someone's panties through their ever so cool sundress, but it's not my intent to share that same view of my person. Sundresses do little to hide anything under them in a lot of cases even when they are supposedly lined.

Nah this is a cotton like material not see through at all. But I am sure like lady Diana were I to stand with my legs apart and the sun behind perhaps the outline of my legs would be visible but even then I am not sure...you would have to see the material No it's fine. I did check in the mirror too no see through even if I press the dress against my panties nothing is visible at all.

I am just starting to appreciate how cool and comfortable sundresses are now that summer has finally arrived here. I have found if one sticks to panties that as closely match your skin color the show through is minimal. Maybe someday I can get away with just a pair of panties however for now a pair of nude Spanx works perfectly.

What is it with the male of the species and panty lines?Davita wrote:I don't mind and can be amused at seeing someone's panties through their ever so cool sundress, but it's not my intent to share that same view of my person.
