I agree with you all. Bring back the those 60's and 70's fashions. It would be a real past life "walk down memory lane" as I cut my cross dressing teeth with those fashions. What an experience it would be to relive them.

Re: 60's Fashions
Born in 1940, my earliest fashion sense was shaped by the Sears Roebuck catalog of iron-wear in the in the outhouse. But my sense of individuality was shaped by the independent war-working women of the mid-40s and the newly independent Be-In and Love-In girls of the 60s.
So I have fetishistic leanings toward bullet bras and corsets, plus make-do leg stain (with a eye-liner line up the calf), and those dreamy Indian-princess thistle skirts and peasant blouses. I was also mightily impressed by that sewn-in slip in "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof."
In other words, I have almost no fashion sense at all, and I have no idea what looks good on me - only what feels good on me.

Having grown up in the 60'sand early 70's in the heyday of miniskirts I loved those fashions. Not sure I would wear them today at my age but for the young girls why not? After all we all longed to wear them back then so why should the younger generation want to wear them today?

I hope that 1960's fashion would return, but I really desire a return to 1950's female fashion. I do so love that decade for female attire, makeup, and more.

Re: 60's Fashions
Like many of you I grew up in the mini skirt era and have to admit while I enjoyed not sure I would want to go there again even f I were young enough to wear them. I think for the most part the clothes of today are better made as well as more comfortable. The demise of polyester as a fashion staple makes for much wearable clothes and we have many more choices as to fashions today. I was out last night with a group of girls and we ranged in age from their 20's to my 61. There were jeans, skirts with tights and ballet flats, mini skirts, maxi skirts, and my knee length skirt with boots and we were all in style and fit in. You would have never see that eclectic mix of styles back in the old days.
For those of you who desire a return to the 50's I would assume that part of that is the underpinnings. No thank you is all this girl can say! Today's bras and shapewear is a lot more comfortable than those were. I see some pictures and old catalogs an think to myself how did she breathe?

Re: 60's Fashions
I just LOVE 60s fashion! One of my wife and my favourite things to do is to look through old catalogs (Eatons, Sears, Wads, Aldens etc) and daydream. For her its what she would dress me in, and for me its what I would love to wear.
Being fans of Mad Men and shows like Pan Am we are always on the look out for items to wear to recreate the era.
Plus, my formative years were the 1960s and early 1970s, so for me its a trip down memory lane coupled with, if I knew then what I know now -- and could go back to the then and be a teen again -- and had a bunch of money --
Hugs

Re: 60's Fashions
Speaking as one who lived through the 1960's, it's my opinion that between 1960 and 1966, the fashions were very feminine and alluring. With 1967 came pantyhose, mini-skirts (which most certainly did not suit the majority of ladies), the beginnings of the flat & chunky heel and the decline of the slip. I earnestly put it out to the Universe that 70's fashions are never visited upon the female ever again.

Re: 60's Fashions
60's fashions really fall into 2 classes. The early 60' s were really a progression of the 50's but women starting wearing slacks and jeans around the house while the later half spawned the mini skirts, hot pants, and go go boots many of you speak of. As the only boy with 3 older sisters and Mom not to forget a cross dresser back then I was well versed in the fashion trends. The arrival of spandex and Lycra meant girdles became more "comfortable" and bullet bras faded in favor of a more natural shape. Then came the mod fashion craze, remember Mary Quant and Carnaby Street? The mini spawned the rise of pantyhose which changed the way women dressed forever.
On a lighter note I still remember my introduction to pantyhose. It was Easter 1968 I think. It came from my oldest sister who is 8 years older than me and had her own place. She came over to go to mass with the rest of us that Easter Sunday. She had on a bright pink mini dress and the first thing my mother said to her was her dress was too short and there was no way she could keep her girdle and stocking tops from showing when she sat down. My sister smiled and said she wasn't wearing a girdle and stockings but rather pantyhose. Of course that led to the question of what was pantyhose. My sister very nonchalantly pulled her dress up to show us.
I do remember my mother chastising her for not wearing a girdle and saying that was just a fad and would never last.
Still within a couple of months my other sisters and Mom had abandoned stockings for pantyhose albeit with a girdle over them.
