Thanks ladies. I know I shouldn't, but with opportunities few and far between, a girl's gotta do what she's gotta do, you know!?

I've already secured a room at the hotel, and will have the starter set on hand, as well as the antiseptic.

I've also ordered larger backings from http://www.earrs.com to support the weight of the danglies.

I wonder why no one ever cauterizes the opening to make it permanent and increase the healing time?

The pain, my dear, the pain! By 'increase the healing time' I presume you actually meant 'speed up the healing time'? While cauterizing would probably speed up the healing, you'd also have dark spots on your earlobes from the burned skin, even when chemically induced.

I said it before, I'll say it again: I would only consider wearing those new pearl drop earrings if they were very lightweight. If they're not, then sorry, dear friend, stick with the starter studs for Saturday night! [-(

However, I presume that you'll go ahead and wear the pearl drop earrings anyway. [-X Just be really careful while wearing those dangly earrings on Saturday! Those holes are going to be very raw still, and adding the extra weight to them you may be doing more harm than good - - you could be tearing the hole, causing more damage, pain, and delayed healing time, not to mention an increased risk for infection.

Whether you follow these recommendations or not remains to be seen. [-o< that you do.

Either way - have a great time on Saturday!

Hi Donna,

Congratulations on your pierced ears. I'm happy for you. :)
I might be one of the few girls left who uses clip-ons I guess. I'm afraid where I work and live, both pierced ears would stick out like a sore thumb.

Hi Donna,

I know you've still got that instinct in you to go with what you want, but maybe you should listen to Silver about this one? :(

You will be around next year. Maybe you should wear them then? You've waited so long to do things right, ya know? What's wrong with pearl earrings?

It's your decision, but she REALLY sounds like she knows what she's talking about? :(

If you do come back from the event unscathed we'll know it can happen, but I'm just worried. :? Is it really worth the risk? :?

I pray that no matter what you decide you have the best night ever!!! :) [-o<

Thanks.

I appreciate the concern, and will probably only wear the danglies if my order arrives on time, as it includes the clear protectors as well as the larger size backings. :)

Thanks for the back-up support, Beauty!

Donna - - I am speaking from experience, as my younger sister did the very same thing you want to do. What happened to her? Exactly what I wrote - - she wore medium-weight dangly earrings about 1 week after her ears were pierced, she tore the holes, took an extra 2-3 weeks for the piercings to heal because of the tears; she was lucky she did not get an infection as well.

Donna, my friend, I [-o< that you follow my advice. This 'doctor' (one of my nicknames - pm me for explanation) has shown you a real-life experience and given her recommendations. I can only hope that you heed those recommendations. [-X

In other words, Donna, I don't want your wife to be able to say, "I told you so!" should anything happen. Okay? :-k

Donna

I wouldn't be arguing with SilverLady if I were you. [-X [-X [-X [-X The consequences might be worse than sore ears. 8-[

Well, my wife enjoyed her early Xmas present.

Andrea Bocelli returned to North America this holiday season to perform live at MCI Center with an international cast of 175 of the world’s greatest musicians and dancers.

Andrea Bocelli was accompanied by one of the world’s most respected and premier orchestras, The Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, as well as the Westminster Symphonic Choir, Denyce Graves, and a couple of ballet troups making A Royal Christmas the Christmas celebration of the year!
