nothing to wear!!!

Post by Ralitsa »

I have in my closet right now 22 dresses, 20 skirts, another 5 skirt suits, and of course various tops, sweaters, etc. And I have NOTHING TO WEAR, AAARGH!!!
Maybe I just can't decide, but there is some problem with every one, either it's too formal, too casual, too summery, wrong color, no matching shoes, matching shoes are strappy heels and there is 1 foot and a half of snow outside, no matching tights, no matching top, the sweater I want to wear doesn't match the skirt I want to wear, or something. Several things I haven't even worn before because there hasn't been the right occasion, and I think I need to go shopping.
I'm going crazy !!arg!!

Been there...do that...on a regular basis -- some days my brain just can't see the right combination. I call it the fashion brain freeze. Happily, there are also days where I feel like a genius!!

My wife also has days like that .. and then she'll ask me for help (I ask her for help a lot more than she askes me!).

We have both had the fashion brain freeze at the same time only once or twice...

Good luck -- I'm diving into my closet right now trying to figure out what I am going to wear out today (beauty shop, shopping, dinner and a movie).

I read somewhere that when a woman says she has nothing to wear she means that she doesn't have the right thing to wear, and when a man says he has nothing to wear it means his clothes are all in the laundry basket.

nuthin to wear..... I love being a woman. Any excuse to shop... :)

Usually when I run into the "I have nothing to wear" is exactly the moment I was supposed to be dressed and heading out the door.

Here's a way-out, wacko, and weird suggestion: Make a list of what's missing and/or wrong with each piece hanging in your closet. Then go out and buy those tights, or the necklace and earrings, or scarf, or shoes. Whatever it takes to complete the look, get it. Maybe that's a bit too logical and sensible, but sometimes, that's what it takes. Besides, who doesn't love going out and shopping for more accessories? :haha:

Before my wife allowed me to keep my clothes in the closet I remember her saying that and wondering how that could be a problem. Now I understand!

I know I have less clothes than you, so when I do get a chance to dress it is not an issue also because I do not go out. I can see it would be hard to put an outfit together sometimes.

Hugs,

Erica

Erica S.... For years I kept my stash in the attic. Florida heat was not good to clothing with elastic. I only had maybe 3 outfits, a pair of boots, lingere, a wig and makeup. I was just happy to have time to be me when the oppertunity came about. Things have changed since my wife and I came head to head and I now have a fair sized wardrobe and a bit more freedom. It took 46 years to attain this little bit of freedom.

Just call me Erica, with the S it sounds too formal. Wendae, I am glad to hear your are more free to dress than when you started. I hope it does not take me that long.

Hugs,
Erica

That is an excellent suggestion Caith, and really I've been trying to do that. But what happens is that I go to find a top that matches a skirt I have, for example, and I can't find a nice top but I buy three more skirts instead. Or, I don't find the top that matches the skirt, but I find 4 other tops that I really like that don't match anything else that I have. Or, I finally get the top, the skirt, the tights, and the shoes all together and then the weather is wrong.
But just recently I've discovered the power of the bodice, or body suit. These are great, they can go under a dress, with a sweater, a sleeveless top, anything. They can be casual and formal, for summer or winter, everything. I need to get a few more, and then my problems will be solved (until tomorrow) :P
