lip gloss never stays on me so I use lip stick - fish scales and all

Usually over, but can be applied by itself. Depends on the look desired.

Donna is right. Myself, I'm a lipstick girl or the new stains. So far I get better (but not by much) staying power with the stains.

Except for the occasional fancy event I stick with gloss over liberally applied pencil. I like the sheen of the gloss, and an all-over pencil application makes for a base coat that isn't easily worn away. Periodic gloss touch-ups throughout the day keep the shine and protects the base color.
