From what I've read, a lot of the more comfortable CDs have no problem going into stores to get their makeup done...since I'm nowhere near that point, I've been thinking about a couple of alternatives:

I live outside of Toronto and I found a transformation salon there that offers up all the services I could possibly want. The problem is that reviews online are very harsh towards it and I don't want to throw away money on a lacklustre experience. Acceptance would be a given, but I'm kind of turned off of the place based on what I've read.

The other (and riskier) choice is to have a makeup artist come to my house. I just got married two months ago and before we tied the knot, my wife had an in-home trial with a professional makeup artist. It took everything I had that day to keep my distance from them so they'd not see how salivating I was with jealousy...she did airbrush makeup!

Her business card is right up beside our computer and sometimes I feel so tempted to call her and pay for the hour so she can make me look better than I could possibly imagine. The problem is, this is not a huge city, people talk, word gets out, and so on. Still, even though I am 100% heterosexual, my ultimate look would be that of a smoking hot drag queen...exaggerated features, gigantic hair, etc.

I know she'd be the best/only one to help me with this, but the risk of being outed is too great. In the meantime, I guess I'll just suck it up and slather on extra coats of mascara until I can finally master false eyelashes (youtube videos haven't helped).

Oh well, like they say, practice makes perfect and I'm just loving the practice more and more each day!

The first question I would ask is: "what do you want to accomplish?"
To have the artist come to your house would be fabulous and great fun, but then what? Will you be all dressed up and go out on the town for a great time? It seems sort of a pity to waste such an experience just for sitting at home watching TV, and then take it all off 3 hours later.

About a year ago I went to a salon and got the full treatment. The real point of that was for her to teach me how to apply my make-up correctly, to figure out which colors and shades were best for me, and to get some real and honest advice. This I highly recommend. So I ended up buying like $200 (US) of make-up, but I actually had some idea about what I was supposed to do with it when I left. I think I will go back again for a refresher course soon.

Also, I would say, do not necessarily restrict yourself to the TG specializing shops. The place I went was a regular salon, I really went the for my hair and sort of got carried away....... A lot of the girls will tell you that department stores can do it for you just fine, and maybe they can, I don't know. But for myself I prefer a little more of a professional experience. They didn't specifically cater to TV/TS/TG/CD/XY/AB but they offered me a private room if I would be more comfortable, so they were not entirely ignorant either.
So, I would very highly recommend that you visit a salon and have them give you the whole treatment. But, you should schedule this for a time when you can really capitalize on the results. Even better, make it a day out for your wife and yourself, then take in a show at the theater in the evening with a nice romantic dinner.

i am glad u had a great experience and the stylist who worked on u must have known how to do it
but my experience is that for most at least the first time it is better to go a salon that caters to tg/cd/drag
they know ho to feminize a male face and bring out the best u can be. they also teach u ho to do it!

Celeste from experience only go to transformation places that are highly recommended
ive been to a few in the jersey area and 2 of the three i was not happy with! the tow were well known but they just were not good in their craft the third in Pa highly recommended and was all i ever wanted. and u could say that there is where Latanya was born!

I am also looking to have a complete makeup and photo session as my only photo's are about 10 years old now and I never did get any done proffessionally when I was in my 'prime'.
Whilst I can do my own makeup to a reasonable standard I feel I can do better with a little help.
I was done an internet search and come up with a few in the Montreal area but was wondering if anyone else in the Montreal area had found a suitable place?
