Soooo I am naturally VERY hairy and my skin is suuuuper sensitive. I shave and ALWAYS get razor burn, no matter what method I use. It always happens on my thighs and my chest. I want to get rid of all this hair without looking like connect-the-dots on my skin. HEEEELP!!!!!

I shave, since I don't wear anything under my dress (except for long cute socks when I get them). I think that waxing them is the best option. They will stay away for a while then, and although it hurts you will see the effect immidiatly. If you don't like the sound of that (I sure say I don't!). Try shaving while taking a hot bath with some nice soap. Life up your leg, shave, put it down under again. Smooth for the skin, and feels great to!

I shave, usually in the bath, or maybe the shower, but always, always moisturize

Have you tried Veet for men?

Using a 5 bladed razor and a good quality hair conditioner?

If you can find the money, laser... from then on the hair will be finer and easier to shave.

Myself, I shave in the shower and I'm using a Venus razor. Anytime you use a razor no matter what kind, the sharper the blades the less irritation. As you shave, make sure the blades aren't getting too clogged with the hair because that. for me, tends to mean I have to run the razor of spots again. As everyone says, moisturize. You can try the various shaving creams and gels for the shaving. Once your done and still damp, you can use your favorite body moisturizer. When Ro was very very dry, one of her doctors recommended Neutragena body oil or some such.

Now one of my tricks, which isn't really a trick, but just makes life easier for me.... I don't shave my legs all the way up to my ***. This means where my legs rub won't be so irritated from stubble. If you're not wearing anything so short to show too much, then you just need to shave high enough to not show the fur line. BTW, you're going to show more outer thigh than inner thigh if you're doing things right :)

I shave every once in a while, also like others, it helps if it's after a bath, but diff use lotion too. I will miss shaving my legs once the weather gets warmer as I like wearing shorts in the summer, and don't want friends to question my bare legs.

Shave with caution but what about stockings or tights. They do enhance the legform

yes, waxing by a pro is the best thing, if there is one near by you, you have the money to spend on it, & you do it regularly.

Like the others, I usually shave in the bath, after I've soaked my legs for a while and the hair has had time to absorb water and become soft. The shave cream and razor make a big difference too. Lately I've just been using a handmade soap that a friend of mine makes and it is very nice, $7/bar though. But a really nice shave cream, like Evolution of Smooth, is $8 and doesn't last as long.
Sometimes if I use a cheap razor then I will get all the little bumps, and then I put a lotion on my legs that contains Aesculin extract. It's from the leaves/bark/nuts of the horse chestnut tree, (I extract my own from a tree in the yard, but you can buy it I think). It reduces inflammation and improves circulation in the legs, and oddly also stops bleeding.
But everyone's skin is different so you have to keep trying until you find what works for you. Clearly what you have now isn't working right, so throw it out and try again.

My biggest problem here is that my hair, although it grows pretty slowly, is pretty thick, so I almost always get ingrowns, and have to let it grow a bit before i can shave it again. Usually I let the stubble get a little length, so i can make sure it will be as good as the first time I shave them. Not sure if this is super helpful, but of course, always moisturize!

i always scrub my legs with a good loofa and a body wash before shaving the problem might be less the razor and more whats on your skin to begin with, if i dont scrub my legs first they are iritated for a few hours.

but im not a skindoc so dont hold me to that.

I can understand some razor burn the first few times, but if it is still happening after multiple times your doing it wrong.

It's a shame but Gillette has over a barrel, the 4 and 5 bladed razors are the only way to go but they are very pricey.

Get a routine going, once a week at should be about right, and stick to it. When i do shave, i always do so in the tub as it just makes the most sense. Your skin is wet, and the warm water closes the pores which helps.
Also very important is to run an exfoliating loofah or mit over the skin to flake off dead skin, this should help with preventing ingrowns.

All that said, i've totally fallen in love with my epilator..........ok, let me rephrase that, i have a love/hate relationship with it. It's not fun (especially the first few times) but if your committed to going hairless, it is the way to go.

I spent 55 usd on my Emjoi silk-rewards brand and it'll prolly pay for itself fairly soon, just in the fact that i buy fewer blades.

I still do a full body shave once a week tho, as i don't take the torture device........ooops, i mean epilator, into the nether regions.

i have been using an epilator as well lately and i like the results less stubble
i finds it smarts rather than hurts but then i am not extremely hairy
my priivate areas still a razor 3/4 blade
and underarms still a razor
i used teo get razor burn as well but i admit i was doing it either dry or just under the shower with water
so u pay the price

How often are you shaving? you need to give your skin a break.
atleast 2 days between shaves.
also running the HOT shower water on your skin for a few minutes first is important, or you can get in a hot bath.
thoose multi-blade contraptions are not the best, infact they are actually the WORST.
i used the multi-blade disposables for years, have been shaving my body for over a decade now.
recently i switched to a double edge safety razor, its much better.
nice close shaves and NO IRRITATION AT ALL.
all thoose blades in the multiblade razors do not give you a closer shave, they just irritate your skin.
the razor i use now is called a Merkur 180 and i buy
the Astra Superior Platinum blades (100 blades for 10$)
have only been using this for about a month now but wow, its way better and cheaper than thoose lousy disposables...
