Farmers tan

Post by AJ West »

What do you girls do to combat the 'farmers tan' look, you know, heavy tan on lower arms, lighter upper and the dark v-tan on your upper chest?

Latley I'v been wearing a mens muscle/tank top shirt while outside working on the weekends, it gives me much more color on my shoulders and upper arms. it also gives me noticable tan lines that my wife says look much more feminine as there are strap lines were my bra strap wil be.

I'm very self concious about that part of my look and try to avoid sleeveless tops and dresses, but love how they look.
Not sure where I'm going, but there's no since being late

I tried putting sun block on my arms where I didn't need to tan and left it off the lighter spots to help even up the colors. While you wait to get the tan looking better, you can use the self tanners on the shoulders and transition it into the already tanned areas.

As for the strap lines? I want them; they are a natural look on so many women in the summer. I want that added illusion.

I'll wear tank tops designed for women, while working in the yard or walking the dog, etc.

This is a major problem for me as I spend at east 6 hours a day outdoors, I have yet to find a solution as I wear polo shirts for work and can only get away with singlets very occasionally, not enough to even things up. On the whole I end up either putting up with it or wearing sleeves.

i ALWAYS wear long sleeve shirts, for two reasons, first i want to avoid said farmers tan, and secend i shave my arms and everyone that knows me knows my arms are naturally hairy so i dont want them to have anything else to pitch me sh-- for.

I'm a committed tanning beds user.

And before i get the lecture, yeah i do so smartly.

I do the beds once a month all winter (i first started that years ago after reading an article about it helping with dermatitis issues, as i have fought with eczema since a was an infant), bump it up to twice a month heading into early spring and then try and get some real sun by early summer.

I say try, cause i have'nt had a private place to tan in my bikini for some time.
I wear a nice teensy weensy (nope, this one isn't polka dotted) bikini to tan in.

Karin if you spent as much time outdoors as I do you would find that I is possible to tan even here, or is it rust?

Definitely rust in North of Scotland, you only get a chance of a tan about once every 10 years.

Obviously the best way to avoid tanlines ofany sort is to sunbathe nude! In reaity evenwomen end up wth uneven tans. I wear a lt of -shirts and end up with a form of a farmer's tan. If youi are serious about eliminating the issue I suggest you look into many of the selftanning products available, remember the health issues for natural tanning and even many tanning booths.

I have numerous long sleeve sheer nylon black tops I wear under my dresses to avoid the look of the 'farmer tan'.
There is an item I've seen on tv that potentially solves the issue. It is essentially pantyhose with the feet and a neck hole cut out and sewn. It comes in white or black. I think it's called Magic Sleeves or some similar name.
I LOVE black tights & control top pantyhose with reinforced toes.

I wear sleeveless tops all the time so that all my skin is a consistent color. Now in January in Montana when it's 20 below, what happens is that all the skin freezes off. Then when it regrows again in April, it's all a nice uniform blistery red. And of course it's important for my legs to look the same, so obviously I need to wear short skirts and sandals all the time as well. :P

No, seriously I try to stay out of the sun as much as possible because I get sunburned easily, and really I don't like the blistery red look much.
