Painted fingernails

Post by Rhanda »

About fifteen years ago there was an attempt in New Yqrk to start men to wearing nail polish. I don't knw if it is still happening there. Well, I had been wearing clear nail polish for about 5 years. This was my way of breaking myself of chewing my nails. I always liked the looks of long well painted nails and decided that I would grow mine long (about two inches). I really got a charge out of learning to cope with nails that long. You could skoop up anything that was the size of a golf ball, but trying to pick up something like a screw or a tack took a lot of learning.
My favorite style was and still is the French look. I got real good at it and wore my nails that way for a couple of years. I finally had to quit or I would lose my job. now that I no longer have a job, I'm thinking about starting to paint my nails again.
This would make a statement because I mostly dress in womens styles. I'mnot read to make such a strong statement yet but I am not shrinking from wearing the sensable and atractive styles. that women have borrowed and adapted from men's styles.

Does anyone wear nail pollish all the time. and how long do you wear your nails?

As I said in the other thread about finger nails, I wear mine as long as I can up to their natural brittle breaking point. I go thru the cycle or trimming them back to keep them even then let them grow. I paint my nails fairly often and they are never clear. I tend towards a translucent color that either shimmers or has an iridescence. I don't wear polish all the time, because nails need a rest -- a chance to breath.

Back when I was attending grammar school, the nuns warned the female students about the dangers of painting ones toe nail. If they could onny see me now.
