Since coming out to my wife a few weeks back, I've begun to play with make up and am beginning to get the hang of doing my eyes.
I read a few articles about concealing a beard and decided to go into Sephora to meet with a make up artist last night.
My wife went with me and I was definately nervous. After grabbing a quick bite to eat we went in.
The first employee I encountered was a young guy. I explained to him that I was new to make up and what I was looking for.
He had me sit with a young woman who was a make up artist. I explained what I wanted to do and she explained a couple techniques for covering my beard. She was great to work with and made me feel very comfortable. At a point during the consultation, I asked her if they got many men in the shop. She told me that she did and that they went out of their way to make them feel comfortable.
I ended up buying a concealer and a tube of lipstick that goes on first to counter act the blue tint of the beard.
Tonight I tried it all out and I was happy with the results.
With each passing day, I become more in touch with the woman who has been hidden inside of me all my life and I love it!!!

Re: First trip to Sephora
As a wife that uses very little make day to day, I'm of little use to help out my CD husband. Thanks for sharing a great experience.

Re: First trip to Sephora
Jackie,
Hopefully the girls asked you to join their rewards program. Signing up takes 2 seconds, they give you the current month's goodie and if you give them your birthday, you get somehting then too. Oh wait. It might be you just get your Birthday goodie. Anyway, sign up if you haven't.
BTW, they don't care what name you use, birthday or anything else. The only thing that has to be good is the email so they can send you the coupons, etc. You can eventually update your profile to reduce your emails.
Next, find an Ulta, which is Sephora's competitor. They do everything that Sephora does and are just as friendly. They too have a rewards program. I think they might costs less in the long run and their own product line is cheaper and catch their stuff on sale/clearance and you gonna save that critical $.
When shopping for makeup, more expensive is not always better. If you get good results with less expensive, then why not? Lastly, check return polices. Even some drug stores allow used make up to be returned. If it ain't working for you, why pay for it? Take it back.

Davita - Thank you for the info on Ulta. Will definitely check that out as well.
