Nail Polish Color and Your Personality - Article

Interesting article - if one can call anything from the Huffington Puffington even close to journalism or unbiased news, they're usually way too liberal a 'rag' for me - and I found this article to be a typical puff piece from them. That being said, the headline caught my eye so I clicked on the link.

"According to Paintbox manicurist Gerry Holford, a person's attraction to particular shades can speak volumes about their personality. Holford believes that there's a certain psychology to nail polish colors, and she shared her take on the subject with us below." I note that neither the author nor the manicurist are therapists, psychologists, or psychiatrists - the statements made in the article are just their opinions with absolutely no basis of fact.


According to the Huff-n-Puff pretty pastels mean I'm relaxed. Really?? I always wear light 'skin tone' (ie, light peach/pinks or clear) nail color as I have short fingers. I have found that wearing lighter colors tend to make my hand/fingers them look longer and more elegant, while any other color makes my them look short and stubby.


I absolutely love the Orly brand of nail lacquer and related products - found at Sally Beauty Supply, for those interested - and at $6.00/bottle and up it's well worth the price. My current favorite shade is "First Kiss" - looks awesome, if I do say so myself! Next in line would be Seashell, Chantilly Peach, and Toast The Couple in that order, with the last 2 shades being used for evening wear only.

Huffington, to me anyway, will have 1 article in about 25, that is really insightful. This is probably one of the 24. None the less, it is a fun read.

Seems my personality is either relaxed or impulsive. Seems true to life, as I want to be the former be act like that latter.

Fact of the matter is I am more concerned about nail polish and lip shade color matching than anything else, personality be dam***ed. Oh how old fashioned!!!

I am going to go relax now.

So let me see if I have this.... If I wear green or blues on my toes they are ????? I already forgot. And if I wear pastels on my fingers then the rest of me is happy? How about I wear pastels on my fingers because I don't want to stand out when I am drab? What are you when you wear a color that changes in the sun? Does that mean my personality changes when I am in the dark versus the sun?

Honestly, I think if you really want to know what your color choices mean, there are medical sites that have true analysis that at least make reasonable correlations. I didn't find the article being right or wrong, the least bit entertaining or informative.
