Works for me

Post by Virginia »

Just wanted to pass this little gem on as it works for me.

I was on, dare I say it???? Craigs List?! Someone had a Bare Minerals concealer for sale for $10.00. She said it was not her shade, so we set up a meet which was close to our house. Long story short, I bought it, brought it home and mixed it with some Elizabeth Arden loose powder that I had - awesome results. A bit of liquid concealer then a nice soft facial brush and make-up is done!

What prompted you to make the mix instead of the Bare Minerals alone?

Hi Donna,

Well, actually the Bare Minerals was a bit dark and the Elizabeth Arden was a bit light, so like magic, they came closer to my actual skin tone. The concealer aspect of the BM has always worked well for me too.

Hope you and Patty have a great New Year!

Love,

In general, is a concealer always used rather than just foundation?

Thanks Virginia, same to you and SL!

Robyn, concealer is only necessary when there are blemishes to hide, or one's beard shadow needs more concealing that foundation can provide.

Robyn,

If you need something to conceal the dark of a fur face, look for a blue blocker for your concealer. Not all concealers are equal too so you might have to try different ones out. I use one of the ultimate concealers, Dermablend is my foundation and I finsh with their powder and any blush I like.

Virginia, that was smart mixing powders.

Thanks, that helps... but gawd, I'm tellin' ya, I'm going through a very complex stage. Don't get me wrong, all aspects of my life including my emotional state as well as my relationship with my beloved SO has elevated to a higher level, but I never imaged how challenging it would become to bring my cross dressing out of the closet. I purchased half a dozen bras before I found the right one, seriously. And makeup, puh, tricky business indeed. #-o

I apologize... didn't want to hijack this post. No reply needed :)

Hi Robyn,

What I have found as for make-up, it is the old adage, "you get what you pay for!" Someone on this forum once wrote, "Ever wonder why it's call CoverGirl and not CoverBoy!?"

Second, if you don't already, buy some of the more upscale "Ladies Magazines," Vogue, Bazzar, even Cosmo and read the make-up articles. It will give you a lot of insight into what may or may not work!
