I am thinking of getting a professional bra fitting. Most of the ones I have purchased are too tight. So I figure I may need professional help( that way too, LOL) I figure that the closest one maybe in CO. Anyone know of a place that is CD friendly to get one done.

Thanks

Kymmie

I did not know there was such a thing as "professional bra fittings". Who would've thought, not me... could have saved some trips to the return counter at the department store.

Kymmie, do a search for "bra fitting" on this site and you will find other posts. I have been fitted at both Victoria Secret and Lane Bryant. But most any full service store or lingerie department should be willing to help you. Walk into a store, find a sales associate and tell them that you would like to have a bra fitting and would they be able to help you. If they can ask when would be a good time for you to come in. My experience is mornings shortly after they open is a good time as that is when the manager is there. If they say they can not help you go to the next store. But I have yet to do that as every place I shop or have asked to be fitted has helpped me. Given your size and you say they are tight, make sure you are going to a place that has larger sizes. Most likely VS and other stores for smaller gals will not have your size.

I went to a Playtex store and right up front ask the lady and all she said was " did you bring your forms with you".
I ended up with two bra's for everyday wear (36b) and two with my forms.

It's easy all you got to do is ask ``5

Rumour has it they only fit professional bras.

Personally, I'm up for some amateur bra fitting at the hands of my wife, but that's another story

Anyway -- this has been something that I've wanted to do since I was teen -- I dreamed about it! Oh those days of a measuring tape and the JCPenney catalogue -- and OH MY GOSH! -- I'm an AA cup size - I was one happy girl when I measured myself that day way back in 1971!

In any event, I have heard that Lane Bryant is very open to doing fittings for crossdressers and their SA's are trained to do fittings. I have also heard that they have as a policy (not necessarily a written one) specific guidelines to treat crossdressers with dignity and respect

Hugs

Lane Bryant eh... excellent. I've been in there a few times with NG. Next time we go I'll have a close look at the sales associates on the floor and if I feel comfortable I'll try on a dress or two. *-*

Robyn? Ummm what is it you're looking for in the sales associate? I'm not sure what the associate is supposed to do to prove they aren't wanting to get fired. BTW, I don't know if all the associates are equally good at fitting bras so it's possible the one that passes your test will fail the fitting. The odds are good they are good at fitting Lane Bryant bras, but what if you want a Bali or some other brand? I personally don't like LB's bras. So I was thinking if you have a Hanes (I think that's what they are calling them now) outlet, then they have options and they will do a fitting if you ask.

How comfortable are you are you shopping for female intimates, Kymmie? If what you are buying is too tight, then you're measuring wrong. You didn't mention what brand you usually get in XL. We all know that sizes change with brands. A 38-40 is not XL in most big girl shops or catalogs.

Davita, that's simple... I'm only seeking a sense of comfort. An employee that I personally feel is approachable. My sensitivity radar is pretty accurate and I'd like to trust my instincts on finding someone to work with that makes me feel relaxed. :)

JCPenny stores also have trained bra fitters.

I have had the most luck bringing my forms with me to
Maidenform, Hanes and other outlet shops
Go in the morning or supper time, usually the SAs have more time to
spend with you.
Be sure to tell them up front you are looking for a bra that will fit
and explain why you don't like the one you have.

Most of the bras I have are sports bras. I believe sports bras are made to fit tight due to the nature of them. The others I have are XL.

some more tips
If you have a Bali-Hanes .. or Maidenform outlet near you I think you would do better than a Dept store
for getting the bra fitting.. the best time to visit is in the 10AM opening or dinner time.
The SAs are not busy and have time to sell you bras and give u a fitting.
I go to the bra area and usually wear my breastforms with a bra under a loose jacket.
I look at the bras and the SA will usually ask if they can help you.
I am looking for a ( be specific as to what you want)
ex.. I think I need longer shoulder straps on my bra..
I think my forms sit too high
The bra I have is too tight./.loose
I need more coverage in the cups

Be specific and she will know your are serious about buying for yourself.
