About heel height
There is so much talk about what height heels are most comfortable. For me, 5 inch heels are very comfortable. That is because I wear a size eleven shoe. If you wear a size eight shoe that would mean that about three and one half heel would look about the same as a five inch heel would look on me. and we all know that 3 inch heels are more comfy than a 5 inch heel. The look isn't the hight of the heel but the curvature of the foot and the ankle that is attractive.
It doesn't make sense for someone to have t stand on their tippy toes just so the can wear heels that are almost the same measurement as the length of their feet.
Any comment on this?

Don't call me a woman, I don't want to be considered a woman. I just want to be a beautiful man.

Re: About heel height
Dear Rhanda,
Among other physical attributes, I'm also blessed with large feet. Still, a 5" heel is uncomfortable especially after a certain age. 3" is my limit for a night out, and too for my CD hubby. You must consider overall height too. A 6 ft+ Cd in 5" heels draws unwanted attention.
The shorter women, and smaller feet, that wear tall heels, you'll notice that the shoes are plat formed at the toe area. Heel to toe ratio is slight, while giving the illusion of tall heels.

Re: About heel height
The longer the foot the lower the angle a heel creates. So to get a similar effect of a four inch heel on a size 8 ft, I dunno what the heck is the answer for a size 12? BUT you get my point.
I'm 5' 11" and I am willing to wear a 4 inch platform heel; if you look good you look good tall or not. Oh, the platform effectively reduces the angle of the foot so I feel like it's a 3 inch heel. Now how high does a girl need to wear her heels? As tall as she wants and she has to decide what's comfortable. If your'e not living in heels day in and day out, they are gonna hurt. You are working muscles and we all know muscles need stretching and warming up. Now the ball of the foot that shared weight distribution with the rest of the foot, loses that because of the poorly designed heel. Only recently have shoe designed started making a heel that offers any kind of real heel rest.
I liked what Oprah said about the comfort of her shoes. She talked about them in number of hours she could wear them before she had to take them off. I do that too. I decide what shoes I can wear to what event because of how long they have to stay on my feet. I take flats for before and after the event. I have higher than 4 inch heels and some are more comfy than my lower heels. It all depends on how my foot is held in place by the whole shoe. Oh... I have been known to wear flats with my shorter girl buds so they don't have to spend all their time looking up so high

I use to manage 4-4.5 inches. Now, after my ankle surgery, flats are even a problem.

Re: About heel height
Tuesday for work was this pair, https://www.flickr.com/photos/davita_farley/8031136178/. Don't exactly remember how it came about but I wound up measuring them at my desk. The heel is 4 1/2 inches and the platform is an inch and a half. For all intents and purposes, I was wearing a 3 inch heel. BTW, these cuties put me at 6 ft 3 inches. OMG, I had to do some deep knee bends to hug a couple of my office mates. I knew my shoe and knew I could wear this one all day.
If you can get the weight off the ball of your foot, then you can wear any height longer. Also, the stability of a stiletto is easily managed if you have the heel of the shoe secured enough not to wobble or slide under the center of your foot's heel. A clunky heel like in the picture allows for some wobble and sliding that isn't safe in a stiletto.

I have heels of varying heights, size 10, and can wear 5" stilettos but after a few hours they tend to really tire out my calves. I can do all day in 3" and never flinch and have done an evening of dancing in 4". I think as long as you give the legs and calves a resat in between you can get through any evening in heels.

Re: About heel height
I am 5'9.5" so a 3" heel makes me 6' and towers above the height for most women. I have noticed tall women wearing 1" strapy heels so as to de emphasize their height. I have court shoes which are basically 2" heels and Flats, may have 4" strapy heels but do not often wear those. I think I or we tend to be height challenged and if we were GG women we would be trying not to tower over the men around us. I follow that convention when dressing and try to de emphasize my height.

I enjoy walking in 5" heels, but in public I wear flats. I'm 6'2" I already stand out:(

Re: About heel height
At 5'8" yes I am taller than the average female still I love my heels. My first husband was 6'3 and my second 6'5" so I actually looked a bit of place next to them if I wore flats. Think of it as a 6' man with a 5'3" woman. I don't wear tham as often or as high anymore still there is nothing that makes a lady's legs look good than a 4" heel with hose on. Don't get me started on the current no hose rage.
Remember Ginger Rogers did everything Fred Astaire did only she did it backwards and in high heels!

Re: About heel height
I too am 5’8” and wear a woman’s 9.5. I find the look and comfort of a 4 1/2" wedge with 1 1/2" platform most attractive with the majority of my casual dresses. Although wedges tend to be a bit heavy, I can effortlessly walk in them as a natural lady.
I do have a number of pumps ranging from 3” to 6”, but the taller one’s are pretty much a nightmare. They look good when sitting, but I cannot function in them whatsoever, thus they’ve only been worn out once.
Regarding pantyhose and stockings: I understand others points of view, but it really is a fashion faux pas here to wear a casual sun or maxi dress with nylons. Very rarely do you see woman in nylons during the day, primarily just the senior citizens. Bare legs and visible painted toes or the norm. However, for evening attire pumps with pantyhose and stockings are preferred.

Re: About heel height
i'm 6 foot and I have a pair of pleaser juliets and another pair of boots both platform with a six inch heel in a size 12 and I end up tall like nba tall but they look so good so who cares. I have a couple of lower heel shoes too but I lovey high heels. I can wear my juliets for hours they are so comfortable and the ankle strap makes them feel super secure.
