Nails

Post by ChrisG »

Any of you do your nails. If so what nail polish do you use and what colors. I am always looking for new and interesting.

Thanks

Lately I've just been using clear polish, but all that is going to change.
I had an agreement with my previous employer that I wouldn't wear any feminine styles at work, and that was a real bummer but one has to pay the bills. Then a few weeks ago I was laid off - yippee!!!
I know I shouldn't be happy about getting laid off, but now I can wear what I like all the time. That probably says a lot, and I need to investigate that attitude some time.

Anyway, I'm doing a bunch of work on my truck since I have the time, but as soon as I'm finished with that I will definitely get my nails done. Almost certainly I'll get a gel polish on my hands and then regular polish on my toes in a matching color. I have no idea yet what color I will get, if I do gel polish it needs to be a color I want to keep for a while. I usually don't go for anything really bright like red or pink, mostly I wear a darker color but maybe it's time to try something new.
I've been doing my toes with a light blue, just because I have that one with me. But now that I'm thinking about it maybe I will go get some new colors.

Nail polishes are a mixed bag. Some really inexpensive ones don't work, but then you can pay a mint and they aren't much better. All my girl buds swear by OPI. I like Sally Hansen as well. Lighter colors don't show your mistakes as much as bold or dark colors.

For colors, I'm adventurous. I like my sparkles and textures. I like the lighter colors on my fingers since I will likely wear the polish when drab and they just don't blast you with "here I am!" If I'm going to wear a color around friends and family that don't know, then I wear a pale translucent, but irridecent color; at this point they are used to seeing it. For my toes if I am not showing drab feet to family then they will be pretty much anything but red. My fave for my toes is a python print stickon nail pattern from Sally Hansen for toes.

Have fun! BTW, a q-tip and nail polish remover are your friends for fixing bubbles (too much polish put in one coat) and for coloring outside the lines.

I prefer OPI. The color depends on whether I'm staying in or going out. To work, it's either clear or very light color. Going out, it has to match my lipstick, so usually has a berry undertone.

I often do my nails twice a week due to my life situation. I also get them done at a salon about every 3 to 4 weeks. At the salon they use OPI. That is an expensive polish. When I do my own I use less expensive brands such as Wet n Wild, Sinful Colors or Sally Hansen. I prefer reds and some of the darker pinks but that is certainly a personal preference.

Having a pretty polish on my nails is something that I really like!

Thanks ChrisG for asking this question I was about to do the same. I did my nails last night for the first time openly and wore L'Oreal Vanetino a deep bold red. I picked this mainly just to see what it would look like. My wife likes L'Oreal some NYC and a lot of OPI colours so until I build up my own colour pallet I'll be borrowing hers.

So if the good ladies have any suggestion I'm all ears.
One wears a mask for so long you forget who you are beneath it......I've now removed my mask.
