I enjoy watching classic t.v. and as such programmes from the 50's, 60's and 70's. Example: I have all the seasons of I Love Lucy on DVD box sets, as it's always a show one can just watch. Often these shows have Lucy dressed so lovely in day/housewife dresses styled of the era . Besides Lucille Ball was a pretty lady and had a very nice body shape overall. She was typical of many women of the time, generally attractive and a healthy, not too skinny, not too heavy, a body with enough shaping to keep eyes on her. Add that show to the way Barbara Billingsly dressed in Leave it to Beaver with her being in day/housewife dresses well has me so often while watching these types of shows saying "UM YEAH! I'd wear that dress and dresses like it everyday."

I mean yes, if I could dress up enfemme as Lacey every day, I'd be wearing day/housewife dresses, with either pantyhose or a garter and stockings on and some high heel pumps most everyday! IMO such lovely flowing A- line type day dresses would be so much more comfy and fun to wear than just pants and a top/shirt.

I recall my mom as a housewife and mom who most days would be in a day/housewife dress. I as a young boy who was growing infatuated with girls and womens wear and even before I started to dress loved seeing such clothes, in day to day life and on t.v.

The period of time depicted in these shows is when I really became "in love" with feminine fashions. Even on our farm my mother wore house dresses. It was a big deal when she finally felt that it would be OK to wear slacks (not pants). She did get one pair of women's denim pants (zipper was hidden in left pocket) for which I managed to find excuses to wear at times.

In the 60's my mother-in-law and her sisters would wear beautiful suits, heels, gloves and perhaps hats to go shopping downtown! So different than what one sees today, sadly.

I agree about how all too many GG's dress so poorly when out and about nowadays. I mean it's become sad. Genetic Girls have all the natural foundation to be beautiful and show off their beauty with fashions but all too many look as if they at best just rolled out of bed, aka: many go out with PJ bottoms on or OMG in onesies . Some look like they live out of a BFI Bin or dress as if they are just a bunch of sloppy dudes.

As for dudes, many dress like dog do do a well today. In my lifetime we went from adult males dressing in shirts and ties, to shirts and cotton pants or clean jeans, to golf shirts and jeans to ratty t-shirts I'd not use to wash my car with and ratty shorts often with them shorts falling down and underwear exposed. They wear ball caps on sideways, backwards and any way but the proper way. They do not take them of their heads to sit and eat as well. They wear crocks, Jesus boots or flip flops at all times.

Back to women today, again they often look like they are homeless or like skanks. In fact prostitutes of yesteryear dressed better than many women do today.

I take it all back to in my mind to the hi-jacking of the women's movement by 3rd wave feminists. The women's movement had it purpose, to show that both genders deserved equal RESPECT! Equal rights in most western developed nations have been enshrined for generations. It was a lack of equal respect. The women's movement should be about equal respect but accepting both genders play and serve different roles, in society, in male/female relations including husband and wife and in family life where fathers have their roles and mothers theirs... LIKE A HAND IN GLOVE! And through countless generations human development it more or less worked.

3rd wave feminists have hi-jacked this and are not about empowering women, nor equality, They are about their narrow agenda of man hating and of hating traditional women even more. If my mother was still alive these feminists would spit on her. My mother as traditional wife and mother was 1000 times more empowered and stronger as a woman and as a person than any of these feminists are. They only care about keeping their destructive movement alive and for many of their leaders and sub leaders funded to pay them well, as many of them have near zero skills and or favorable traits otherwise. Their level of self-righteousness stinks!

But I think a lot of the un-womanly dressing, acting and character of many today is a result of these IMO self-loathing feminists.

I watch t.v. of yesteryear and see how women were portrayed and how they dressed and I say JEEBUS if I could, I would dress and carry myself like that as often as I could today dressed as Lacey. I see period magazines I have from that time and see how women were portrayed and dressed and feel the same thing.

Why would a woman NOT want to be attractive in each their own way, first for their own self respect and lets stay for heterosexuals for the time being, to be attractive to men? I mean the sexes were meant to be together. Even gay relations, one will see that more often than not two gay males will dress and look better for each other as well as themselves than you often see from two lesbians dressing and carrying themselves for each other and for themselves.

It's all so sad, but I do hear/read/see in other parts of the world, mostly Europe and Asia, women still tend to dress and carry themselves off as attractive in each person's own way as to how they dress and in their feminine character.

SORRY FOR THE RANT! I just miss seeing women be women and miss them trying to look and act good for themselves, each other and yes for us guys.

I was in uniform and on stage with 35 of us from 3 different bands for one of our members who passed away on Sunday about 300 attended most were dressed quite nicely most of us women were in skirts / dresses I know many of cause though a lot were new to me .

Yes many young ones don't bother taking time to dress in dress or skirts for those 10years under myself quite a few wont bother yet my age and above do, so look at the age first and then youll see the differences,

If you went up to people and asked what they prefer skirts or slack,s and why , I think that would be interesting .

I received a couple of house wife type dresses today, one red and one black with white polka dots. OMG! OMG! OMG! Luv them. They fit pretty good and I also bought a proper petticoat for them so that they flair out and hold such with said petticoat on. Some nice hose and a pair of high heel pumps and Lacey looks and feels great. These dresses feel tons more comfy than any pants do and look so cute and feminine. If I could I'd wear dresses such as these most everyday. Doing housework and just looking at myself in a full length mirror is so sweet to my femme persona. It is a big part of that feminine feeling. I'm going to add more dresses as such to my femme wardrobe.

The 1950s was a glorious decade for women's fashions. Beautiful clothes made every woman look sophisticated.

If you watch shows like The Twilight Zone, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, right through to movies like Vertigo and Doctor In The House (1954), it's rare to find any woman young or old in slacks, trousers - they're nearly always in well cut, designed skirts or dresses.
