Hi,

How much longer will spike heels be in fashion? Are chunkier heels starting to come back? I've seen younger women wearing them and wondered.

Thanks in advance!

They will both always be in fashion. Not only for us, but GGs have the same fashion sense (well almost) as us.

Hi Rikki, Really missed you!!
As for heels, I think the "spikes" will always be around as they are "sexy" and you know - "sex sells." As you know also, we and GG's don't go out in public in 5" spikes and usually not in 4" spikes, but there is still a demand for them. I know as a powerlifter, I can put on heels 3" - 4" after a hard squat workout and they really make my legs feel better, I just would not wear them in competition.
Love,
Virginia

If you watch news or entertainment programs you will notice the newsgirls and hostesses seem to wear spikes exclusively. Usually they are either black 3" pumps or 2 1/2" slingbacks. It is unusual to see any other style or color, except an occasional pair of fashion boots in winter. Occasionally an older woman will wear a lower heel.

All bets are off if the woman just sits behind a desk, as during panel discussions.

When I first started buying clothes and dressing, about ten years ago, "skinny" or tapered heels were the norm, and clunky shoes were just coming back into fashion. For several of the intervening years, it seemed like clunky was all they made. "Sex and the City" introduced us to Manolo Blahnik and Jimmy Choo, and both of those designers favor stiletto heels. Now, it seems, anything goes. My current shoe collection includes heels of the clunky variety, platforms, one pair of spikes and various combinations.
