Shaving and hair regrowth

I have a question. Does shaving really cause hair to regrow longer and thicker? I've asked a few people and some have said yes while others said no. From my own personal experience, I think that it does, but I'm not completely sure. Also, does the method of removal have any effect on the rate of regrowth?

The Aveeno positively smooth lotion that makes hair lighter & thinner works well if you have to let it grow back.

I grew mine back out for summer - seems lighter but I have brown hair, n (on my head) not black.

I also use Aveeno Postively Smooth gel and moisturizing lotion. It does seem to do as advertised, and some of my friends have said the same. Before I used this, I would have to say that shaving simply meant the hair grew back in as it was. Now, epecially on my legs, it is sparser and lighter. Still there, but nowhere near as bad as it was.

Kind of on the same note, but I'm ready to begin shaving my chest and legs...I'm not so much worried about shaving my legs, but I'm concerned that I'll have a rash or itchiness on my chest...Any suggestions for the best method with the least discomfort?

I'm a bit late on this, but I thought I'd give my 2p on hair growth.

When you shave the hair, it cuts off the end and makes it flat. So, when it grows back, it does look thicker because the top of the hair is flat. It doesn't grow back longer, all hair has a growth cycle and will only grow to a certain length. When you wax the hair off, you are pulling it out from the root, so when it grows back, it has a point on the end of it, thus making it look thinner.

I always use an after wax whether I shave any part of my body or wax it. I recommend you buy a lotion/cream with either Tea Tree in it or Aloe Vera. Tea Tree is a natural antiseptic and is very good for keeping those nasty rashes away.

I hope that helps.
