Does anyone have a particular brand of pantyhose that they like or prefer to wear? What brands are the best that last long and don't wear out?

Hi there Judy,

I would not know which brand/s, but I would think the more expensive ones.

I get all mine from thrift stores and am not fussy.

I usually prefer Hanes Her Way Control top pantyhose or Silks brand for stay-ups. As long as you keep your legs smooth and toenails clipped, they should last you a while. My experience with the more expensive brands do not guarantee they last any longer. While they may look and feel nicer on, I find they are less durable than cheaper brands.

Would you like this gg's comments?

Personally, I buy the Legg's brand pantyhose - control top - and I like all their styles (even their knee highs). I even wear their Thigh High, which are more comfortable than trying to put on a garter belt and getting the stockings to stay put! I've tried the Hanes Her Way control top, and I like them, too.

For best prices, I buy them at WalMart. However, if you have a Legg's-Hanes-Bali outlet store near you, they tend to have better prices on the multiple-pair packages. I've also found they have different colors there than the regular retail stores. For instance, I really like Legg's Taupe color, but they're only available at the Outlet stores! Taupe is between the Suntan and Off-Black colors, making it just-right for winter wear, where Suntan would be too light and Off-Black too dark.

I agree with Stephanie: the more expensive 'designer' brands, while they do look and feel better, do not last nearly as long as Legg's or Hanes. The only reason why I would buy a 'designer' brand would be for a special outing, where I would want hose with a back seam, or a rose pattern, etc.

If you're looking to buy fairly inexpensive garter belts and stockings, I've found them at SuperTarget; I suppose a regular Target would also have them. They are by Vassarette (yes, the company that makes the bras, too), and the garters can be bought individually, or in a combo package with stockings.

Hope this helps you!

SuperTarget is uber cool, although their groceries are a little on the pricey side compared to a WalMart SuperCenter.

Come on down, Gracie, and we'll go shopping - - SuperTarget is only 15 minutes from my house!

The No Nonsense brand seems to last a long time, through several washings. I pick them up at the grocery store.

I Like Leggs also, but they are hard to find in a larger size, length and width wise. But some do feel better than the No Nonsense brand.

Another brand I like, is from JC Penny. The Delicates brand. Black, Nude, Seamed, Netted, thigh high stockings that stay up on my big thighs. I ordered a whole bunch from their online site. Heck, I thought I was ordering 10 pair, but it turned out that they came in groups of 3, so I really bought 30 pair. They carry them in some of the stores now.

I generally but at the Hanes factory outlet. I perfer the control top.
Choice of color is important to me and they have a great selection. They also have purchase card program where after a purchase of I think is $150. you get an additional 20% discount. Also, you can get "traditional" underware there and get credit applied to you purchase card.

Hi all,

I have a few special pairs of lace top back seamed and fishnet Vassarette gartered stockings that I found at regular Target and Walmart stores in my area.

The Leggs outlet store is where my wife bought me a couple of pairs of fishnet and designer panty hose with the Phillipe Matignon (sp) brand.

Avenue has fishnet tights. I like my hot pink ones from there.

I also buy stockings from One Hanes Place and National.

I also have picked up unopened packages of Silkies pantyhose at a rummage sale.

Some thrift stores also have unopened packages of stockings/pantyhose.
