Sorry Gracie, but . . . . .

my wife surprised me last night, and I now have pierced ears.
We were at Tysons Mall and we first went to Claires, on the first floor, but there were too many kids around. So we went to the second floor to Icing by Claire. $27 for two 3mm gold studs and a 16Fl.oz. bottle of their anticeptic.
The one item on my Christmas list, and I hadn't even mentioned it to her.

LOL!
When I read that I was like, what happened??? and why is this in the Fashion and Beauty section???
You two timer!!

Ummm.. You .. umm.. sheesh I can't think of any other names to call you that we allow on the forum.
You stink, you know that right?
I do have a get out of jail free card though. Since I am transitioning and I'm looking less like a guy and more like Pat (SNL) everyday I can't really risk having my ears pierced too.
Regardless, Ms. Safety Net Remover!!!! I think you deserve another rasberry

for leaving me out and alone in the world of holeless ears, especially because I was using you as a justification crutch. And why did you do this??? You expect me to accept that because you have a super cool wife who loves you for who you are and not because of holes in your ears that it's ok?

Well, I think the fact that you do have a super cool wife and you are a super cool spouse is AWESOME! but was that enough for you to go out on your own and leave me???

You should have thought about me! before you did this liberating act.
I'm so happy for you Donna. I really, really am. I'm proud of you too.
When you put in the dangly, very cool earrings, I want you to think of the rasberry I'll be blowing.
I love you Donna!!

Gosh Donna, I didn't think you were the "Holier than thou" type.
You're gonna love having them pierced, GF. No more modifying the dangly ones with those awful clips. Way to go, girl!
Gracie, umm,

sorry.
Hugs,
Kyra

Good for you Donna! Just look at all that choice you have now!! Just wondering if it was a case of: bada boom bada bing, when you got them done? I'm sure SilverLady would be interested to know.
As for you Beauty, you're just gonna have to get yourself down there sometime and 'go with the flow'. As any Sci-Fi fan will tell you (in best mechanical sounding voice), "Resistance is Futile - You Will Be Assimilated". When that happens, I'm sure you won't regret it either. Then Donna won't have to be so mean to you anymore.

Congratulations, Donna! You're going to love having pierced ears!
The one item on my Christmas list, and I hadn't even mentioned it to her.
That just proves how well she knows you!
As for me - well, I plan on having a second set put in sometime this week; that is, if I can ditch the dh for a few hours and use Christmas shopping as a legitimate excuse! The dh is
soooo observant he probably won't notice them for a while!
::hmpf::
Beauty - don't worry, you still have Virginia in your 'non-pierced ears' cheering section! So, 'you are not alone'!
{Ah, but for how long?}
Stephanie -
I keep telling you: it's bada bing, bada boom!! You're silly, girlfriend!

everyone!

Hi All,
Good for you Donna!

Only now you have to think of something else for Christmas.
As for Gracie, you are not alone. I, too, am among those with holeless ears. At least besides the ones I hear through. I have contemplated getting mine done and thought a lot about doing it this past week. But, when it comes down to it, I just chicken out. Don't ask me why but, I just can't seem to bring myself to that place.
Of course, there are no malls near me and, really, I don't have a clue where, around here, one would go to get pierced ears. Must be someplace near by because everyone seems to have them. I just don't know where it is. The only place listed in the phone book that does ear piercing is almost sixty miles away. And, this girl ain't gonna drive two hours for that.
So, don't feel so all alone, Gracie. We can hold out together.
Love,
Kathy

Hi Kathy,
Thanks!!!

The kids were throwing rocks at me in the playground and pointing and laughing. Now you can join me and together there will be less bruises and their laughing at us can be spread out.
I'm just kidding, btw. I laughed my butt off at everyone's post, but it's still to have Kathy with me.
:: looks into your eyes ::
You're not going to leave me like Donna, now are you?

Not in the forseeable future. Given current circumstances, I would predict that you will get there before I will.

Gracie, Kathy and Virginia - yeah that'll work!! We can have a pajama party and pierce each other's ears!!! We could have some great fun, bleeding all over the place, drunk, laughing, rolling on the floor in pain! What a night we could have - oh, and then the shots, tetnis! and then the law suits, practicing medicine without a license! Of course we could do it in Vermont they have pretty lax laws I think!!!
How's this, my soon to be "ex" pierced her ears while in college - ready for this????
with knitting needles! One tore out a couple of years ago and the cost for fixing it was in the $1000.00's
Yeah, I want more holes in my body!!!
Anyway, way to go Donna, I guess

Um, sorry Virginia but Vermont requires anyone who pierces body parts, including ears, to be licensed. Except, of course, do-it-yourselfers such as you mentioned. I may be able to give my mother a shot but no way am I going to be sticking needles into myself.
Love,
Kathy

Thanks everyone.
My wife had, for some reason, psyched herself up to allow me to do this. In Claire's, I could tell she was a little hesitant, and offered to wait until she was more prepared. But she indicated that she didn't know when that would be. So, not wanting to let the opportunity pass, as she had changed her mind before, the deed got done.
I hope Saturday isn't too soon to put in danglies. The pearl drops I picked up last week will seem even better now that I don't have to convert them to clip-ons.

How heavy are the pearl drop earrings, Donna? With your ears being newly pierced, and still 'raw' from that piercing, you may not be able to tolerate anything but the starter studs for the first few weeks. I seem to remember the healing time being about 3 weeks before you can safely remove the starters?
Because Saturday night is a special event, if the pearl drops are light-weight try to wear them, anyway. However, have your starter studs with you to change into them should the pearl drops start to bother your ears. You don't want to leave the hole 'empty' as it has not healed yet.

Tempting as though it may be to wear the dangly ones, general advice is that you leave the studs in for at least three weeks to allow the healing to take place. Taking them out and putting others in too early may aggravate the holes. If you can't resist, just keep dabbing plenty of cleansing alcohol on them.

OK, I'll give you that one - You are my silly girlfriend!

(from one girlfriend to another of course!)

Donna, a BIG Congratulations !!!!!!
You will enjoy and they will quickly become just a part of you.
My wife was very hesitant about my pierced ears also, but in the end she is the one that pushed for them. So I am glad you went with the flow. It really is no big deal is most cases.
At about the 3-4 week area i put in some dangly ear rings and loved it. Just make sure to clean ear rings before putting in to be safer.
Enjoy your holes,
KimberlyS
P.S. Gracie your day will come.
