I think the price of most cosmetics is crazy anyway. But, I'll have to watch for that. Maybe I'll find it at a somewhat lower price and can justify buying it.

Couldn't really justifiy the price for the Chanel right now. But, I did read a writeup on Covergirl Lash Exact.

The price was right, about $5.00, so I thought I'd give it a try.

Works VERY well for eliminating clumps. It has a special brush that really does a good job on upper and lower lashes. Stays on well, but comes off easily with soap and water.

Still gives you the flakes a little, but in my opinion, it's a better product than the Maybelline, that I had been using.

How old was the mascara?

Just for fun, you all might want to check out www.makeupalley.com for mascara reviews. I was addicted to that site for a while! Users will rate and review all kinds of cosmetics and beauty products, and I swear by it now. I rarely buy a new beauty product without checking out that site.

I've found that different mascara brands have worked differently. For some reason I've always had problems with Cover Girl mascaras (I wear contacts and have sensitive skin), but I love Bourjois' Pump Up the Volume mascara.

I've just started using Loreal Volume Shocking mascara, and I love the results. It's one of those two-part mascaras. First you brush on this white stuff, then comb over with the actual color.

Just like all things in life you get what you pay for. I have some drug store make-up ( loreal as it is a cheaper brand of Lancome) and the difference between the Lancome and Mac and the covergirl and loreal stuff is amazing. Cheap make up looks cheap when applied, the texture never seems right and the colors are limited with the amount of pigment in them.

I actually prefer pigments and bases than pre mixed stuff, it takes some practice but once you know what you are doing you will actually spend less on the pro make up than the drug store brands if you get the right combination of bases and pigments you can mix your own blush, foundation, lipstick and eyeshadows and have fantastic results that I have tried many times to duplicate with cheaper drug store make ups and its near impossible.

So I opt for the expensive Mascara. Just my two cents.

Having been someone that has worn makeup for 40 years I'll add my two cents.

Chanel is the best mascara in the world. Lancome is very good. I react poorly to Clinique and don't use it. Estee Lauder owns Clinique and I don't do well with Estee's mascara either. L'Oreal tends to clump and I haven't used Cover Girl or Mabeline in years so I can't really speak to how they have improved - or not.

I learned through trial and error that you should use the best make-up you can afford. Melyssa definitely benefits from this advice <G>!!

Yeah, I agree about the Clinique mascara. Their mascara is pretty lousy--I usually stick to the skincare and foundation, which is pretty good. I was disappointed with MAC's mascara as well, but since they're also owned by Estee Lauder, I shouldn't have been surprised!

I'll have to try Chanel's mascara, or maybe give my SO a tube as a late Xmas present!
