I'm at a total loss as to what size girls jeans I should look for. I'm normally a 34/34 but what does that translate to in womens? I had a couple of pairs a few years ago but I don't know what size they were. I got them from my cousin, GG, and I wore them all over until I got stopped by the highway patrol. They gave me a bunch of bogus tickets while they were snickering at the guy in the bra and skin tight jeans. I was so shook up I threw out much of my wardrobe and swore I'd never dress again. That lasted three days.
Anyway, is there a chart to convert male to female sizes? I really need some help here.

You should be able to find your answer there, as I have provided links to several online stores with sizing charts, as well as given definitions for the different lengths, such as Petite, Average, and Tall. There are also more tips from the CD's on finding your correct size.

I've checked all the links in my original response, and the only one that has changed is the one for Newport News, which I have corrected.

The quick and easy method.

Take a string, wrap it around your waist, mark the two overlapping points, tie a knot to form a loop with the two marks touching the knot and disposed inside the loop.

Now, go to the store and find a pair of jeans you figure to be your size, and, holding the knot in one hand and the end of the loop in the other, compare the width of the jeans to the length of the string's loop.

Use a long enough string and you can measure the length in a similar fashion.

But it may be quicker to just try the on at the store.

Start with two pair: 12 and 14 tall

I have never bought a pair, but have certainly tried enough jeans on and admired my look in the mirror. I wear the same size you do and had success with anything from a 14 to an 18 depending on the make and style. 12 has never worked in anything but a stretchy waist skirt, but i still keep trying when I find something at a good price that only goes to size 12.

Thank you Silver Lady. That's just what I was looking for. Now at least I have a starting point.
Thank you also Donna T. There used to be a way to put your forearm from the elbow to the fist inside the waist band on jeans and if that fit ten they should fit your waist. It may have worked a few years (and inches)ago but I don't know about now. The string trick sounds much more reliable.

If you wear a dress, I have found that jeans are the same size. I wear a size 20 dress and 20W jeans.

Most (if not all) web retailers display sizing charts on their web sites. If you've bought from one or two, then one way to proceed is simply to compare the sizing charts on different sites.
Won't always work, but certainly helps.

We get lots of woman clothes catalogs. You have to figure where you fit in on sizes. If "X" is a womans waist, Bust is about 8" more, hips about 10" more. If "X" is a mans waist, chest and hips are only 4" more. Low riding jeans are difficult for a man's torso. They don't have the "curve in" to the waist to keep the jeans from falling down. As for jeans, it is better to buy men's jeans for a fit and embroider femenium flowers or style lace on them.

Lisbeth - I just started buying womens jeans, I have a 33 inch waist. I purchase size 12 tall.

Keep in mind, many of them stretch, the 12's are a bit loose, but not bad. The pockets kill me though. They are not as deep.
