Maybe its me but lately I've noticed a lot of news women, Katy Curik and the women on CNN are using eyeliner differently... Most always line the top lid and many line the top and the bottom.. But what I've seen is the top lined and the botton lined from the outside of the eye halfway back towards the center of the bottom lid, and just fading to nothing.. Looks kind of odd in my opinion and I'm not really enamered with that look.. Gives the eye an odd lopp-sided look..

I always line the top, and maybe a quarter of the time line the bottom.. (Daytime makeup vs night time makeup) Always with liquid, Maybeline Eye Express which they just discontinued!! Arggggg... And when I do line the bottom I usually do it above the lower lashes, along the edge of the eye... I've tried below the lower lashes with a pencil, smudged for that smokey look... But I think above looks better on me..

So how many have noticed this style of eyeliner and additionally how do you line your eyes?

Hi, Karren -

I don't watch much TV, especially Katie Couric as I have never cared for her, so I haven't noticed that style of eyeliner application.

I usually apply eyeliner on the upper lid immediately above the lashes and for the whole length of the lid. The lower lid, also end to end, but immediately below the lashes. I do have the upper and lower lines meet at the outside corner. I always do the lower lid for evening wear with the liquid liner, for day wear I'll use the pencil for the softer, more subtle accent.

Have you tried the Almay liquid eye liner? I have never had a problem with that brand, either liquid or pencil.

Well, my hands shake like a jack hammer, so I use a stiff angled brush, and black eyeshadow, all the way across, eyes closed. Gives them a smokey look.

Since I apply foundation to the eyes beforehand, then any mistakes can be taken care of with a sharp Q-tip.

I'm not a fan of hers either, SL... Just happend to notice it last night while flipping through the channels.. And haven't tried Amly.. Yet. Like the Eye Express because it was easily removed (a must!!) And the applicator had a nice largish handle... like a big crayon with a tiny tip!! Lol. Most eye liner bottles have this small tapered handle and its hard for my clumbsy hands to use... I have found some Maybiline Eye express on Ebay so may have to stock up!!

I wrote to Maybelline and they sent me a nice emaiil back basically saying "Too Bad".. Hehe. Figures!! Always happends when you find something you like!!

Sometimes I'll mess with black eyeliner, but I usually end up smudging it, and end up having to do it over again. Since I started using Revlon Colorstay eye shadows, I've been using a trick they suggest on the package. I use the darkest color in the palette in place of eyeliner, using the pointed applicator. I usually just line the top, just above the lashline, but will sometimes do the bottom in the evening, or if I'm trying for a particular effect. It's hard sometimes to tell, because I wear glasses.

On that note, I got dressed up to go shopping a couple of weeks ago, on the morning of a day I had to work. I was working the evening 3-11 shift, and I rose early so I would have plenty of time. Using an idea I pulled from one of my fashion magazines (it was either Harper's Bazaar or Marie Claire), I went with a daytime effect: just a sheer metallic shadow on the lids, with black mascara just on the upper lashes. It was so fast and easy that I've used it a couple of other times since. Anyway, I went out and did my shopping, then went home to change for work. I got my makeup off and changed into my work clothes. I got about halfway through my shift before I realized I was still wearing eye makeup. I reached up to rub my eye and noticed my lashes were stiff. Oops!

I've only once tried to put on mascara and some color. I'm still at the 5:00 shadow and have to get some concealer at some point, before I can even worry about my eyes....

I can't wait, but only recently coming out, I need more shoes, skirts, dresses, thigh highs, panties etc. before the makeup. What's a girl to do!

I've tried those makeup removal cloths (They're premoistened, like baby wipes) and like them so much, I keep them handy in my car.

Nope. Nobody noticed. I said something to one of my coworkers (most of whom know about me), and she said, "You're wearing makeup? I couldn't tell." My glasses ARE pretty thick. I took them off and closed my eyes, and she told me she could "just" make out the shadow on my lids. I always carry a little pack of the wipes when I'm dressed, but it never occurred to me I might need them other times.

I have never been good at applying black liner (especially liquid liner) so what I do is use a brown pencil (very sharpened tip) and smudge it on the LOWER lid only. Then I put black kohl pencil on the inner bottom lid (you know, ABOVE the lower lashes on that ridge between lashes and your eye) pull your lower lid down a bit and you will see the flat ridge. I love this effect, It was started by Liz Taylor and looks very Egyptian/Indian/exotic. I use this technique every day. AND you NEVER have to worry about a straight line. I wish I could demonstrate what I mean, but I think you can picture it. it is like a signature with me! Try it! I think you will really like the look.

I remember I was at the apartment of my tattoo artist, Thief, once. I went into his IMMACULATELY sparkling, MR CLEAN bathroom (way too clean for most of the single men I had been privvy to) and in a little cup on the sink was mascara. When I returned from the bathroom I was scoping out his eyes for some SIGN. It was wonderful & fun. He never said anything and neither did I but it was a fun little find.

OOH and Jaye, you know Jeannie is a hairy little Italian (lol, she'll kill me yet again for that comment) and that 5 o'clock shadow features heavily for dark haired persons. I gave her Adrian Arpel's camoflage compact and she seems to really like it. There are alot of correctional makeups in that compact. You can grab that on HSN. Some of the reviews on it are not great but she released a new version of it and it seemed the old version was what was favoured. It was the original version that I gave Jeannie. But I bet none of those reviews came from C/D folk! Probably all from old over sun baked women from Boca.

How fast you GG's turn on us! I want my marbles back! For your imformation Tinkster I'm not really Italian. My Mom always told me I was left on the doorstep by aliens. The worst thing Tink is that they were Irish aliens. Not only do I want to cook meatloaf and peas with a boiled potatoe but I have the Irish curse! Don't ask!
I'm no stunod though. I stop believing that a couple of weeks ago. I have to get going. I haven't shaved for an hour.

OMGDSS (you'll get used to this abbreviation from me, it stands for OH my GODDESS!) That was a superb and instructive video Amelie- Laveau! I have always found the Goth makeup to be extremely difficult to apply. (you'll see what I mean, Jeannie, when I send you that issue of Gothic beauty magazine)
